Well now we know where is Manik Urai. Its actually in the middle of nowhere. But some politicos have been learning to bathe at the well in Manik Urai. They have been spending nights with the kampong folks and have no choice but to mandi air telaga at some of the homes.
Given a choice I would like to retire in a place like Manik Urai – surrounded by greenery with creatures and stuff crawling around the woods. There are still plenty of places which are still quite well preserved.
Folks can have little to do except maybe listen to the grass grow. Its really laid back. People are not too concerned with “national” issues. They are not convinced by any pending sodomy trials either. What is important is if someone can fix the leak in the roof, put in better piping and extend the street lighting in their area. Folks on the ground say that the PAS are doing a swell job in this area. The UMNO boys may not be as fast – this time around.
But the BN man on the ground and the man to watch is Dato Mustapa Mohamed – the Minister of International Trade & Industry. Tokpa has been working really hard on the ground. There is some talk that the election will be a close call.
I feel there is still strong PAS sentiment but I would like to see the final vote tally and the win-lose margin. Even if PAS wins (as most folks expect) but if they do not win big that by itself may indicate the tide is turning. If PAS loses, it will be a huge achievement for Tokpa. Heads will roll in PAS. Tomorrow is the polling day. May the voters choose wisely.

It does appear strange though, to see some pub crawlers campaigning in the dry village.
In a world of holy and unholy, the turbaned poor of Manik Urai actually do not mind seeing the boot leggers visiting them.
A bit strange, but this is Malaysia.
A GOOD MAN DOES NOTHING.
Pssstttt, Sir, you don't want to retire in Manik Urai. They have no well-stocked bookstore within 50 miles radius. Trust me.
Perhaps the pub crawlers sacrifice their time to campaign in the dry village to do their duty to create a better Malaysia with improved checks and balances ?
It doesn't matter to me who wins but it is interesting to see what tactics are employed.
Syed,
Sudahlah dok promosi Stopa ni. Hang pun tau dia ni tak boleh tolong orang. Tlong orang kawasan dia mungkin, tolong Mat Kelantan mungkin. Tapi tolong orang-orang dia pun dia buat-buat taktik lambat dan macam lena. Kerja nak cepat duit suruh kita pakai sendiri. konon untuk agama, bangsa dan negara. Dia duduk sedap rumah kerajaan di Bukit Tunku. Orang mai minta tolong dia buat2 lena. Time dia minta tolong nak cepat. Orang yang sponsor pun last2 lari malam sebab Mustapa terlalu baik kononnya pakai duit nak buat kerja sampai tak pakai duit dia sekupang pun. semua duit orang sampai orang susah jadi lagi susah. Orang UMNO dan sekeliling tau lah dia macam mana. Orang tak kenal dia kata dia baguihlah. Konon nak tolong Melayu, macamlah kita yang menolong dia ni Negro sampai satu apa pun tak bantu. Buat tak tau saja tapi dia selamat dan sedap. Penakut pulak tu nak buat keputusan dan lembik. Sudahlah hang puji dia Syed. Orang Kelantan kata boh lah tu....
