The right wing UMNO Bloggers have long been upset with the Prime Minister over too many things. They are just holding their horses because the elections are drawing nearer (possibly less than 10 months away). The elders have been advising to stay the course and help get the Government through one more round of General Elections.

But events over the past few weeks (the illegal Bersih allowed to meet the Agong, allowed to gather in a stadium, abolishing the ISA without consulting anyone, the unpopular Air Asia - MAS share swap, the dubious Sime Darby E&O share purchase and other issues) have had a heavy toll on their patience. They are all now in an extreme 'hilang sabar' situation.

Lately this dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister is moving to include the middle ground as well. The PM better be advised. I have been receiving smses and messages from people who are fast becoming very disillusioned. And still receiving them even as I am writing this. The PM will be surprised if he knows where exactly these messages are coming from.

The latest incident that has irked too many people is the Namewee issue. Namewee is a young man whose very foul mouth, in other circumstances, may not get noticed at all. His constant haranguing over what he does not like in the Malays (in this case disguised as criticism of Utusan Malaysia), using the foulest of Chinese expletives, will not get any reaction at all except anger and retaliation.

Yes I agree that Namewee focussed his video on Utusan Malaysia but Utusan is not just any newspaper. For many Malays, especially the three million UMNO members, the Utusan is an icon which represents more than just a newspaper. The Utusan is also identified with the modern Malay struggle.

Compounding the error is the PM's "foot in the mouth" comment praising Namewee as a symbol of 1Malaysia. This very ill thought or ill advised comment seeks to project Namewee as a sort of 1Malaysia hero instead. Here is a news report from the pro-Opposition Malaysian Insider

It is really not necessary for Namewee to use such invectives to get his message across. The Malays are well aware about where they stand in the 'catching up' game in this country. I think anyone will appreciate good advise about how they can move forward, and if the advise is well intentioned.

But when the advise is very little (there is nothing much in Namewee's four letter words) and given with large doses of abusive and foul language, then it achieves nothing except create tension and hatred. The young man should be told to stop his insults and focus on his creative pursuits which can unite the people.

If the PM could not do that, then he should not have said anything at all. I think it was a mistake for the PM to praise Namewee. How can someone who uses Chinese four letter words like 'c*bai' be a strong supporter of 1Malaysia?

Najib believes that we are playing hide and seek. The 30% quota is a hindrance to Malay progress and got to be abolished (now he flip-flopped). It is the scourge of bastardization of the Malays. Yes, he could say that for being up there on top. Was the matter discussed beforehand among cabinet members or UMNO Supreme Council? Has he become an authoritarian?

I have watched a few of them and all I can say is he GOT a POINT. While his antics is something to be desired, he is speaking of what is really happening in Malaysia.
Our country is broken. It needs to be fixed and those that has been running the country the past 50years has no desire or they dont care because their job is to milk for what is left of Malaysia.

Clearly the PM has been sending the wrong signal as of late. I hope those around him ensure that he gets the real picture. Being an UMNO tradition, it is not always easy for the members to remove an incumbent president. By the nature of the Malays, once they trust someone, they trust wholeheartedly. I certainly hope the president acknowledges this.

Thank you for taking the lead in saying what was until now 'non-sayable'. Most malays feel that the PM had succeeded in insulting the maruah and hurting the feelings of the majority of the non-PAS voting Malays.
As we all now, insults beget insults.
What hope do you see for UMNO to win the next election? If UMNO loses, then would the component parties of BN have a hard time joining the Pakatan?

If the BN loses he next election, the Malays may suffer from the aftershock - for a while. Then their sense of berdikiri will kick in. They will survive - may be even thrive. BUT -- the Malays will never accept UMNO ever again.
Pakatan on its part would have to be pro-Malay, out of fear of being voted out of the Government. It would have to do what UMNO is doing now.
So, the Malays have their options too. If BN cannot or would not give them good schools, good hospitals and good roads, then the alternative Government is available to them. They have promised to do better!!

The majority of the Malays just feel that all they expect from the BN government is good schools, good hospitals and good roads.

May be the PM meant to say "you UMNO members, stop relying on the Government" If this is true, then it is the UMNO members who need to settle their scores with the PM. Not the Malays.

Najib seriously need to buck up. Let's start with NO APPEARANCE of Rosmah in the news. She maybe the nicest person on earth BUT rata2 rakyat Malaysia don't really fancy her. Most can only tolerate that she is the PM's wife BUT not when she hog the limelight. Her doll-like appearance simply doesn't go well with the masses.
Next is MINIMAL appearance of BN leaders making unsavoury remarks of Opposition. In this case, LESS is MORE. Less unsavory comments mean that you're more matured, responsible & have more class. Any criticism against the Opposition on TV must only be made by "neutral" academicians, ulamaks or normal man on the street.
Lastly, stop trying TOO HARD to be COOL. I'm sure the youth wants a leader who they can look up to.. not somebody who are as confused as them! You need to understand their lingo but NOT speak nor behave like them.
Well.. good luck Najib. I hope you will win PRU13 BUT I wouldn't bet my whole wealth on that tho most especially if you keep on pushing your luck with your core Malay supporters!

Spot on. You also highlighted an impending problem facing us. Unemployable graduates. Does anybody care about this? We are just churning out graduates minus the quality.
Local graduates are finding it hard to get a job. Look at the statistic. Majority of them are Malays.
I think some of the well intended policies has makan tuan. 30% bumiputra equity is based on what? Ali Baba sort of businesses? Look at our GLCs. We have clever Malays running it but yet most of them are 'Government Losing Concerns'.
Compare with China man companies.
To me it is simple. If you grow the company through the hard way, you will value each and every cent that you pay out, invest etc. Because you know how much hardwork has to go into it before you can reap what you sow.
We need to encourage enterpeneurship amongst the Malay. We need to change the mentality. I believe this is the same lamentation that Tun M has with his Malay people.
We need to reexamine our policies. To date, I still find alot of dissatisfaction with the PPSMI issue. Why are we subjecting our kids to such backwardness?
Every year, BM gets tougher and English gets easier. Don't believe me? Ask around. This has worsen the gap between the urban and the rural.
PM? Are you hearing us out? I value our national language but look at it this way, we need English to survive. Unless the Government plans to employ all the unemployable graduates and bloat up the already bloated civil service.

Why do you think kids like Namewee come about? Parents who don't send their kids to national school. There is no integration. I am not saying national school is crap but going with the sort of education policies that we have churned out thus far, it is. Will our politicians subject their kids to this sort of torture? Nope! How many send their kids to private or international school doing the IB or Cambridge syllabus? If you are rich, you wouldn't dare to put your kid's future in such gamble.
Can we please go back to our basics? Let's start with education. We already lost 2 generations.
