Here is the news. Unfortunately for us this news is from the USA.
.
HERNDON, Virginia - Volkswagen Slashes Price of 2012 Passat by $7,000 (RM22,000), Undercutting Japanese Rivals
Volkswagen on Thursday announced that it is cutting the price of the redesigned 2012 Passat by $7,180 (RM22,760) versus the 2010 Passat, thus undercutting the base 2011 Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
The base 2012 Volkswagen Passat 2.5L starts at $20,765 (RM65,825) compared to $27,945 (RM88,585) for the 2010 Passat.
The top-of-the-line 2012 Volkswagen Passat SEL Premium starts at $33,720 (RM106,892), including shipping.
The pricing strategy slots the new Passat — which is longer, wider and roomier than its predecessor — below the base Camry and Accord.
The 2011 Toyota Camry starts at $20,995 (RM66,554).
The 2011 Honda Accord starts at $21,930 (RM69,518).
VW offers a choice of three engines in the Passat, including a four-cylinder turbodiesel that is expected to deliver 43 mpg on the highway, the company said in a statement. The Passat with the 2.0-liter TDI starts at $26,765 (RM84,845), including shipping.
.
VW is providing free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles.
.
Folks, you can drool or salivate. But I think we should be getting angry. What does this mean? It means that we are in the Third World.
.
How do you describe a Third World country? A Third World country is a country where the people (who want to become the First World) handcuff themselves or tie themselves up with silly policies which actually makes them poorer when compared to the First World (which they are aspiring to be)
.
How do they become poorer compared to the First World? Well in the Third World, the people are silly enough to tolerate paying FOUR TIMES the prices for basic goods and services compared to the First World. This is a good description of silly Third World people.
.
So if the First World pays RM1.00 for a cup of 1st Class Baskin Robbins Ice Cream, we are willing to pay RM4.00. Why? Because we are the Third World. This means we are not clever. We are silly. Nak kata bodoh pun boleh lah.
.
So please read this. A 2.5 Litre super duper Volkswagen Passat is now selling in the United States for RM 65,825 ONLY. That is less than the price of a Proton Waja in Malaysia. Or slightly more than the price of a Perodua Alza.
.
Folks, they also throw in free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles. The Camry sells for RM66,000 and the Honda Accord 2.4 sells for RM69,000 in the US.
.
Over in Malaysia the Volkswagen Passat 2.0 (NOT the 2.5) sells in excess of RM245,000. This is FOUR TIMES the price they pay in the United States.
.
Their cost of living is much higher. Their land costs are higher than Malaysia, rents are higher than Malaysia, salaries and labour costs are higher than Malaysia, transport and logistics costs are higher than Malaysia, yet they can sell the same car FOUR TIMES cheaper than we suffer here in Malaysia.
.
Ini tak masuk akal langsung.
.
Why are we willing to suffer paying FOUR TIMES the price for cars? Because we are silly. We are not a clever people. We tolerate silliness. WE tolerate the bankrupt AP regime where cronies get APs to import cars which sends the prices of cars to the sky. We tolerate silly duties and taxes all of which are levied to protect a domestic car industry that is becoming increasingly NOT viable - day by day.
.
It is becoming more ridiculous.
.
Kepada sahabat-sahabat yang tak faham niaga, yang tak faham kira kos sara hidup dsbnya - here is some basic comparison.
.
The Americans pay RM65,000 for a 2.5 Litre VW Passat - a marvel of modern engineering "Made in Germany". In Malaysia, you pay RM245,000 for the same car. But lets forget about the VW Passat.
.
In Malaysia, even if you buy a WAJA you pay about RM70,000. Sekarang cuba fikir ok, if the Americans pay ONLY RM65,000 for a VW Passat 2.5L, then how much do you think they will pay for a WAJA in their country? RM15,000? RM20,000? They will definitely NOT pay RM65,000 for a WAJA.
.
If they pay RM20,000 for a WAJA, then they save RM45,000 already (COMPARED TO YOU THE MALAYSIAN CAR BUYER). So for the same car, we are paying much, much more than the Americans. FOUR TIMES MORE. We pay more but we get less. Why? Because we are Third World - we are silly.
.
So the Americans save RM180,000 on the VW Passat alone. For the WAJA they may save RM45,000. That is a lot of money.
.
With the money that they save (compared to us) the Americans can send their children to private schools, to attend music classes, to college, for overseas holidays, they can buy more things to make their lives better.
.
We cannot. We make ourselves poor because we pay FOUR TIMES the price for the same car. With the money they save, the Americans can also come to Malaysia on holidays, sit in the hotels where our sons and daughters become waiters, to serve them food and drinks. Sometimes the Americans may give our sons and daughters some tips - for which we feel grateful. Baiknya Mat Salleh.
.
Why? Because we are silly. Nak kata bodoh pun boleh.
.
I once sat beside the man who at one time ran Proton (not Tengku Mahaleel). I sat beside him for about an hour and we spoke about Proton and his other business ventures.
.
He said quite proudly that he loved to "turn around" failing Government businesses. Most of these businesses were monopolies. His trick was very simple. He bought the failing Government businesses at cheap, fire sale prices. When the business is sold so cheap, and it has a monopoly licenses (for example express bus company with lucrative routes) of course you can turn it around. Even the "orang buta yang main music" at Jalan Masjid India can turn around this type of business.
.
But that is what this ex-Proton Boss was saying quite happily. He did not seem to realise (or rasa malu sikit pun) that he was actually profiting from a huge subsidy. His own value added was almost zero.
.
Folks, if the Government sells Malaysia Airlines to me at RM1.00 - I can turn it around in a week. OK maybe not RM1.00 but some other deep discounted price lah - if the Government slashes the price far enough, yes of course I can turn around MAS.
.
Here is some simple arithmetic. Say MAS tak untung and tak rugi - zero profit and zero losses - just breaking even. Say the company is worth RM10.0 billion. Say hutang is RM5.0 billion. This means tolak hutang, the net value of MAS is RM5.0 billion. I will buy MAS from the Government for RM5.0 billion. But I have connections. I tell the Government I will buy MAS for RM2.0 Billion only. The Governmnet agrees. This means I already make a 'buta profit' of RM3.0 Billion.
.
How do I cash out? First I buy from the Govt at RM2.0 billion. Then I sell MAS to a real airline company for say RM4.0 billion. I pocket RM2.0 billion. The airline company will pay the RM4.0 billion beause they also get 'buta' value RM1.0 billion
.
That is the business model the ex-Proton Boss was talking about. This is not business lah kawan. It is called m.a.k.a.n s.a.b.s.i.d.i. At the cost of the taxpayer. At the cost of silly Third World people like us who are willing to pay RM245,000 for a VW Passat when the car should actually cost RM65,000.
.
Third World silly people who are willing to pay RM70,000 for a tin can car when for the same amount of money they can buy a VW Passat 2.5 Litre 'Made in Germany' car.
.
So we remain poor.

I have got some insider information that the government will abolish all import duties for foreign cars next year. This is also part of the strategy in facing the election.
Local manufactured cars prices will also be restructured...Just a heads up on this..
When you talk like that you make us all happy. Someone is speaking up for us, finally. But I think TDM will be marah. LOL!
Syed, at the rate our beloved superdungu Ministers in Malaysia are screwing us with Lembu, Condos, etc, i'm not surprised even our cucu cicit will continue paying ridiculous car prices forever. why? because we Malaysians are simply bodoh!
hi,
thats a good comparison.
Yes i pun memang very bodoh. Bought a ford focus disel for 128.88 but the car is valued at 16k at first crony.
F===k my brains. very susah hati
Why we pay thru our noses for cars and other stuffs?Look no further the culprits have been running the country for more than 1/2 a decade. We can thank them for all the wastage, daylight robbery and mayhem that was started by none other than the 1st president of UNMO baru.
Vote UNMO is you want to pay high prices for a sub-standard car and more or less anything else
Hah, caught ur post fresh off the oven. Pak Syed, you kan baik dengan TDM. Tanya dia lah apasal APs are still in existence. He'd probably say that kita kena nationalist and protect local industry. Sampai bila agaknya??
I am always puzzled when reading comments that our car prices are very much higher than in other countries. When I checked the web, our car prices for models such as the Camry, Accord or BMW 3-series are about the same as in Indonesia or Thailand. For example the 2.4 Camry is sold at IDR 470,000,000 or about RM165,000. Don't tell me they have AP or Proton also in Indonesia. Of course, we can't compare with prices in the US as the market is much bigger and the car companies can afford to bring down the price for volume. Of course, I could be missing something here.
supply anddemand lah..and the market there is huge..
This thing I've known for years but I am baffled that nobody makes any noise. You are right, Malaysians are bodoh.
bro,
last aku visit beijing tengok passat & Audi A4 diaorang buat taxi jer... kat sini masyaAllah..mahal nak mampos!!
memang kita dah terkena dah...

My friend ,
Knowing u not the bullshit type of person , i almost jump to my happiness when i saw this blog title, after i read till the end . I am more depress then ever. Nak cakap bodoh pun boleh lah.
Sometimes i wish i dont read your blog cause when reality bite is hurt.
Thank the master mamak for this state of affairs. Once a senior manager in proton told me that he was trained in Mitsubishi in Japan. "In Japan politicians do not cut ribbons at manufacturing plants, ours do, hence the difference".
Crazy ass comparison. I wonder if PR comes to power all this bullshitry of AP systems and cronies will vanish, or get worse?
If worse, then what's the 'choice' for us?
Can you find out Passat's price in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia?
If theirs are same as us, then we're not the only one shafted.
Bro Syed
In Saudi Arabia, a new Porsche Cayenne will cost about SR160K (also RM160K in 2000) A 4 year old Mercedes 240 can be ours at RM 45K of less.
The Cayenne price is equivalent to one and half year salary of a middle level Saudi executive while the Mercs price is less than his one year salary.
What about in Malaysia? A Proton price, on the average, can be equivalent to two to three years salary of the same level executives here. Do not talk about Cayenne or BMW or Mercs.
Admittedly, there is only 5% import duty for all imports. That is why cars and other imports are relatively cheap there. Saudi Arabia is very far away from US of A. They are not as efficient as the Americans but their citizens are generally paid highly. New Saudi entrants to the job market are paid SR8 to 10 k per month apart from other non-salary benefits. On top of that, they only have to pay zakat; there is no Inland Revenue Board there.
Almarhum AlMalek Fahd and the visionary AlMalek Abdullah never had a high income economy target as he had never launched the " Model Ekonomi Baru". His Government do not even have a Specially created ministerial rank bureaucrat to head the "Pemandu" . They have "pemandus" though, but most of them came from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, not from Sarawak.
In our Malaysia, we have the New Economic model and high income economy as a target. We are very obsessed with growth target but apparently, do not have the desire to emphasise "growth with equity"!
EPU experts will tell me about subsidies given to the Malaysians, roles of FELDA, RISDA, MARA etc etc. Yes, I do agree with all that had been done by the Government, for which I would to thank Allah Yarham Tun Abdul Razak.
Bureaucrats and politicians sometimes cannot see trees from the forest. They may not be able to see the current widening of income divide between the haves and have nots. A fresh graduate joining a private sector company including GLCs will be paid circa RM2,000 to RM4,000. But the top echelon executives (CEOs, COOs et al) will normally take home seven to eight digits salaries. Their tasks are to enhance shareholders' value while ignoring their clients and employees' value. I have not mentioned bonuses, stock options and paid holidays of these fat cats.
In the Islamic institution that I used to work in the land of the "Haramain" (plural), the gap between the middle/higher level executives and the top echelon President and Vice Presidents is not that wide as in Malaysia. It is the same benefits for every body. Nobody at all levels are paid bonuses or given stock options. However, they are given home leave air tickets for the family. To my mind, this is Islamic and in line with the universal values.
So that is why, in my beautiful Malaysia nowadays, the middle income group only go to KLCC and Pavilion just for the record and proud points for small talks while eating at the Mamak joints or the Kopitiams. The rich seldom visit the two iconic KL sites, instead they will gather in London (in addition to the pow wow), Paris and New York especially during this Christmas season to do everything what the rich and famous normally do.
Nik Tuan Padang
So what are we Malaysians doing? They have been sucking / milking us far too long. Doing ABU is the most appropriate and wise thing to do right now.
A car in this country is a status symbol, more than a necessity.
Of course, every Malay will dream of owning, borrowing or driving a Mercedes. If a Mercedes is sold for pittance, then potong stim lah.
So, driving a Proton or Perodua is also a status symbol. We can tell the yanks, hey look here. We drive expensive cars, unlike you fellas.
A GOOD MAN DOES NOTHING.
Kick out UMNO, UMNO and UMNO. Then we become rich. It is that simple. Unfortunately most Mlays like you are too stupid to see it. You deserve whoever you vote for. Stop bitching.
Tuan,
I like to say:
"WELCOME TO THE NATION OF THE SATANS"
Malaysians are paying too much only to drive a piece of shit on the roads! But at the other side of the globe, more people are getting better cars, better driving experiences, better safety at the very affordable price!
One more step backward to wawasan doplo-doplo. What a shame.... :(

While we continue to whinge about paying more than we should for goods and services, I suggest we come up with a solution and bounce it with the Government.
So my first question is what are we going to do with Proton and Perodua if APs are abolish?
No solution right? Can't think of what to do with it right? Then things should remain status quo. Because I can definitely bet with you, some asshole will talk about nationalism (while the hypocrite is probably driving some Jap or European made car) and try to defend our tin metal road hazard national cars by saying it provides opportunity to the thousands. Or some crap along that line.
Excuse me, I'm not going to be shamed into believing those lies. I have come across numerous Malays that proudly say Malaysia is the 1st Islamic State to 'manufacture' a car. Wow. Great. And have we move on from that achievement? Obviously not. And the same bunch of Malays would always (predictably) buy national cars last.
Why in the world are we paying so much? We love to make certain elite families richer. All in the pretext of manufacturing Bumiputra tycoons. It is ok to have a handful of rich bumiputra but screw the rest.
Now excuse me... I need to move my Kelisa (which is pretty reliable but at RM42k?)
Disgruntled Malay.
Hallo brader, US tu negara kafir, negara yahudi. Malaysia is still a third world country and governed by third world mentality.US adalah negara kafir yang mengamalkan cara hidup islam sementara Malaysia adalah negara islam yang mengamal cara hidup kafir...well, is there anything worst than kafir? Yahudi maybe? then Malaysia mengamalkan cara hidup yahudi.
Tuan Syed, you said we are silly; we are not a clever people; we tolerate silliness; we tolerate the bankrupt AP regime & their cronies; we tolerate silly duties and taxes to protect car industry that is becoming increasingly NOT viable ......!
Tell me, who have created such and made this country miserable?
It is the UMNO/BN regime ~ the epitome of greed, corruption and thievery of the nations wealth who created such!
And yet you always call for the same regime to rule (ruin) us for another 5 years ..........?!
Your really confuse us-lah!!
Emyeo,
I dont want to change the Govt.
I want the Govt to change things.
If the Govt does not change things,
I am afraid the Govt will be changed.
People are getting fed up.
Change is a constant. If you do not change, then you will be changed. I hope the Govt understands this simple rule.
SAA
Malaysian are screwed and the government can't do nothing about that in the short term. Just imagine by next year they cut all the import taxes to bring the car prices down like those developing country. All the car owners will scream to death. They still need to served their monthly instalment for their current cars. And how much they willing to cut loss for the difference between their cars and new cars without any taxes.
Similar if the government increased the salaries/minimum salary. Sure the inflation gonna be shoot to the sky! What the government should do/must do is to control the goods prices and keep it lower and affordable for all the ppl to purchase. No point you double the salary and yet all the goods prices also increase. Back to square one.
Pak Syed,
Kita semua memang bodoh. Wait. Kita bukan sahaja bodoh, tetapi sentiasa diperbodohkan. Just as you mentioned, siapa dapat AP pun sama. Orang buta pun boleh kaya. Jual keta 2nd hand, 3,4 bulan lunyai. Untung? Jual 50 keta, dah boleh dapat RM3, RM4 juta. Margin tinggi. Orang dapat AP, takde yang kepala botak, sebab rambut tak gugur. Tapi siapa yang beli, ramai rambut botak.
Kes Proton - macam Pak Nik Tuan Padang habaq, kereta bagus semua depa bantai duti tinggi. Nak taknak orang miskin semakin miskin sebab dok ganti spare parts kereta. Lama sikit aircon rosak, lama sikit bumper tanggal, power window toksah cerita lah. Pastu cepat karat.
Yes, I agree with this entry of yours. And this is not about politics. This is about economy. Proton suka cekik duit kita, orang susah makin susah sebab pakai kereta hari hari kena repair.
AP auto will be abolished in 2015,to comply with AFTA.low connection with NAP.expensive car in the country because of high sales tax, import duty and excise duty.high connection with NAP.also government revenue increases with the collection.how to solve this?easy.tell MOF to cut down the taxes.tell PROTON to seriously find a partner.AP auto have less to do with the high price of the imported cars.it's only the approved permit to allow importation of the cars.check the hansard guys.it helps to understand this auto situation better.
Mahathir was madly in love with 'Look East Policy '. It was his idea to create PROTON. He is still there as Advisor. Why VWagon now ? Plenty of mis adventure : Ausgusta, Lotus, China , Japan-Mitsubishi and now ?
Once sold to Tan Sri Yahya , Petronas and back to HICOM, MOF,KHAZANAH and now to Syed Mohktar to be soon returned to MOF. Good luck !
What a waste of National pride ?
allo syed,
-scandals, scams, hoax, and whatever crappy misappropriations of taxpayer funds that have been happening in bolehland whether intentionally or not by the many crooks and thugs in the ruling elites circle are beyond descriptions and rationalizations anymore.
-people know them all, these damn culprits in the forms of smart-looking badassitude govt politicians, bureaucrats and cronies. they are not ordinary retards but a bunch of dangerous-money-junkie- opportunistic-sycophant-scumbag-bastards and their resemblances who could fit, act, and do anything in whatever occasions in their relentless pursuit of power, money and fame. they are the worse of all with satanic personalities and could even destroy an entire nation's economy just by scheming from the luxurious offices. these hideous beings disguising as political desperado have penetrated the bn ruling coalition and become
sinister political elites in bolehland's govt. they have been gathering all the ill-gotten wealth without embarrassment and fear of persecutions. they have robbed and embezzled in a broad daylight as seemed knowing too damn well that there will be no imminent danger from all the exploitation being committed. unstoppable they are anymore, and the few good men among them appear powerless to kick these bad asses out of power. bn and especially ameno which the people of bolehland have trusted since merdeka now is really sick with an infectious disease as many of its current members are pure parasites taking advantages of ameno very existence to enrich themselves and their cahoots with ill gotten gains from countless rich quick scheme projects and stuff.
-these crap bn' policymakers knew damn well that about 6 millions households in bolehland are earning 3,000 and less. what have they done to address the 'income trap' problem. the facts are every measure to tackle these issues have been of little of successes as many parties have vested interest to see and ensure that the income of the working classes' majority of bolehland remains low as to compete with other nations. and then comes the govt politicians giving shitty speeches with paint in the ass kind of platitudes such as "increase in salary needs to also be accompanied with an increase of productivity" and other similar crap. in short whenever these bad ass govt politicians or whatever are making noises with their stinking holes, people would go mad instantaneously. then another feel good 'high income' bullshit which will never be attained and realized is being played just to stimulate the brain dead and zombies.
-to give people more purchasing power to the 'income trap' working classes, taxes should be reduced significantly if could not be abolished. bolehland's people have suffered long enough and give some joy to the people. not only in the form of cheaper cars but cheaper other crap things too.
-fake businessmen running monopoly type of businesses have been a norm in bolehland. everybody has to suffer just to ensure that these suckers and cronies of the top dogs to become mega rich and could afford to sleep with pretty whores.
the taxpayers are getting shit all the time whilst they enjoy their heavenly life on earth.
-if they do not want to change then terribly sorry we can change them all.
Thank you Ayahanda. Thank You Barisan Nasional for keeping us in the Third World.
Syed, I regret to say that you are also "silly" for continuing to support BN and putting down the opposition?
Oh, you want to change UMNO and BN? Dream on.
In BOLEHLAND,which is another third world country, the silly people voted the same party to run the country for more than half a century, just because the politicians shout bangsa and agama. Then these silly people become poorer because the party that they voted in in every election since independence made them pay higher prices for all the cars in order to protect their vested interests. So what should they do? Anyway you can't convince bodoh people to become clever.
Nik Tuan Padang,
How many barrels of oil does Saudi produce every day? Here's a clue - Millions!! Generally, everything there is subsidized. Cannot compare with Malaysia laa brader.
Dear Syed,
FIRST WORLD
Queensland,Australia
Untrustworthy people exist everywhere ,Queensland is not spared .
Lets see how they handle the situation
Situation 1
Health Dept of Queensland had two major blunders.Last year a surgeon deregistered by an American state manage to get himself registered in the state.
He continue his reclessness and killed many patients with his misadventure.
Solution 1
The Chief Minister revamp the whole dept.
Situation 2
A financial officer swindled approx AD 5 M( RM18M) and live a luxurious life with expensive cars, pemthouses and condo and throwing money to family members and friends.
Solution 2
Caught him yesterday, probably jailed for 15 years for cheating abusing public money and power.
The whole Health ministry of Queensland were sacked as the Chief Minister said they are beyond redemption.
Problem: Poor Organisation resulting in loss of life and RM18 million
Solution: everyone got sacked.
THIRD WORLD ...MALAYSIA
Situation 1
Thousand of children, poor people and elderly lose their lives due to inaccessability to proper health care in rural areas and urban areas.
Solution 1
"Kita akan mengkaji kelemahan yang ada dan memperbetulkan kekurangan dalam meningkatkan mutu perkhidmatan" the same old things year in and year out.
Situation 2
Billion of ringgit lost in Klang port,RM 250 million in feed lot and many many major leaks.People living beyond their means with illgotten gains with their cows living in luxury condos ,cows' sons and daughters driving ferari ,dangling crocodile bags with snakesskin shoes and lion whiskers for hairbrush......( ni taruk lebe la)
Solution 2
"kami berdiri dibelakang lembu lembu ini kerana setiap lembu mempunyai hak untuk memandu ferari dan membawa Barkin bag dan ianya bukanlah suatu kesalahan bagi setiap lembu untuk menaiki kapalterbang ,melancung sambil belajar untuk melihat lembu lembu lain dipelihara dan digemukkan sebelum dijual."
First world : ten lives and RM 18m ,the whole ministry sacked
Third world : thousand of live and billions of ringgit....the rape continues and rakyat ( treated like a fool) just geleng kepala.
Some even praise them for thinking outside the box( not your blog ok), thought provoking and showing sparlks of brillaiance....my foot.
Syed ....show this to them and pulas telinga depa !!!!
I am screaming
DrPotong
Kereta nak murah. Petrol nak murah. Gula, tepung, beras nak murah. Medical nak free. Education nak free. Income tax rate nak lagi rendah (if tak payah bayar lagi bagus lah... hold on most people don't pay direct income tax anyway!). GST tak nak. No toll roads.
Kat mana Gomen nak dapat income daa to finance the above?
Electricity nak murah. Rumah nak murah. Levy nak murah. Corporate income tax nak lagi rendah. Ikan-ayam-sayur nak murah. Airport tax nak murah.
Kat mana Gomen nak dapat income daa to finance the above?
Cars and consumer goods (made in China) in US maybe cheap BUT the rest (most especially services) are not.
So my question to fellow Malaysians.. you want cheap cars but are you willing to pay everything else at full price like the Americans? No subsidy at all for petrol, sugar, flour etc etc. No (almost free) medical? Income tax rate max 35%/39.6%? GST up to 7.25%?
Personally.. I will say YES. But can the majority of Malaysians afford it? Will we then have more homeless people like in US too? Who are left to suffer coz they don't have medical insurance?
RCZ
US - tanah mahal, cost of living mahal, fuel petrol mahal, pengangguran tinggi but, car prices very cheap..
Malaysia - tanah murah, cost of living rendah, fuel petrol murah, pengangguran rendah(all compared to US) but car very expensive..
I'm not going to suggest for malaysian to live abroad. Even our salary range are differ from US.
But i do feel seriously that government should re-modelled the Proton's business as what Thailand did so that Malaysian can get better quality car at cheap price.
Pak syed, dulu aku baca buku pak syed -to digress a little, aku sakit hati n naik angin pasal sistem yg ada, pasal citer proton,AP n kroni2 etc. Tu,5 tahun yg lepas, sekarang selepas 5 tahun, keadaan masih sama takde perubahan...bila baca blog entri pak syed pagi ni aku dah angin balik,,,,ermmm,,,malaslah baca lagi kang aku dpt hypertension sebab stress hari baca blog
As salam, kalau lah harge kereta di turunkan ke tahap harge2 kereta kat USA, apa akan terjadi pada industry kereta Malaysia sekarang? Minta pandangan semua..
change government= better, ARE U KIDDING ME?
PR full of shitty people
Kalau dah tahu jangan buat. Siapa buat juga akan binasalah dirinya sendiri. Setiap orang harus persalahkan diri sendiri kerana menjadi mangsa kejahilan.
It is a clear fact UMNO is not able to change. Chances are given so many times but third world mentality still rampant in UMNO.
Please give up hope on Jurassic park.
Join us to change the government.
It is the viable and only way to help Malaysians.
You may not like current opposition people and party but they are our current only option. We can change them as well if they suck ass like current UMNO/BN.
Finally, someone blogs about the exorbitant difference of car prices which I have commented on many occassions including PEMANDU and PM online Blogs. We earn so much less here but we have to pay so much more for a much less car. Does that make any sense??? Why does the government tax so much for a car? Is it to subsidise them and all the cronies?
In 1985, I earn approx $1500 a month buying a Ford Laser S at RM25k. The ratio is about 16.6%. Now, the car prices here are ranging approx RM150k which means we all should all earn approx RM9k. With this pay structure, Najib can take away all the subsidies and let the rakyat pays for it. It is better for rakyat to pay for whatever services they need base on individual capacity rather than we hear him saying government spends so much on subsidies. CHANGE or BE CHANGE
Bro,
One of the best articles you wrote for a while. it cuts the political divide as it affects all Malaysians, regardless or race, politics, religion , age , etc.
If BN can do something about this before the next GE, they will win hands down.
Im tired seeing the AP kings flying around in private jets and helicopters while the politician tells us to take public buses.
Its very difficult to be a high income nation, but its easier to make basic essentials like cars cheaper.
Agakanya lah ... bila tuan syed tulis -
"Because we are the Third World. This means we are not clever. We are silly. Nak kata bodoh pun boleh lah."
We ... ni ditujukan kepada mereka yg membuat polisi kerajaan (policies makers).
Sementara ... "So we remain poor." ... merujuk kepada policies makers yg hendakkan Rakyat jelata 'to remain poor'.
Hampeh.
first world infra,..third world mentality.
we pay a high 'status premium', shiok sendiri! we live in a kiasu society
The sad truth is, without tax barrier, proton just cant compete
Nik Tuan Padang,
you are telling half truth story about SArabia...Saudi Arabia is a country that is producing oil at a rate of around 10-12 million barrel a day, compare to Malaysia of around 500,000 barrel/day...
With the current production rate, the remaining oil reserves (already discovered) is estimated to last for another 150-200 more years. That doesnt include future new discoveries.
Malaysia?...our oil reserves may be up to another 10-15 years, assuming there is no new significant discovery to be added as new reserves. With the current rate of usage & say at 4% yearly incremental of new demand, silap haribulan we (Msia) will become the "net oil importer" may be in 6-7 years time?. I hope I'm wrong.
Therefore, comparing Saudi n Msia, is something "silly" to do, which perhaps only happen within "3rd world" mindset...nak kata kurang bijak pun boleh gak
Tuan,
Probably the worst thing, the US people is paying USD 20k for Passat & not RM 65k & of course not RM 259k priced here.... They do not need to convert the money so they have the buying power too! Bet they have the same salary as ours so they got it cheap most of the items too plus better quality & specs.
Hope someone can compare their basic salary & compares. McD meal is about the same - below USD 10 / RM10; PS3 for USD 300++ / ours is RM1200 so we are on the losing side whether we convert or not!
I do not believe changing govt is the issue but we need to look at the system... We cant afford to be buying expensive goods for no reasons. Helps - me need cheap good quality products & services.
MRS
I think changing the government is not the answer considering what PR has achieved and done in Perak & Sgor. They are much worst than BN. We have to pursue this agenda with BN agressively though we have seen recent events incl condo cows goes unpunished. Probably, if Najib were to roped in the independant MPs like Wee CK, Zulkifly into the cabinet, things may change for the better! But electing PR to run the country, it will be chaotic. They will change and impose everything from language, religion, just like in Penang & Sgor. Soon, we will all have SPA saloons as our neighbours.
Tuan Syed,

Okay, maybe my previous comment was too long and didn't get through.

Syed, Your post inspired 49 comments (and counting)!
Wow, you've certainly hit a raw nerve with it! ;)
Tuan,
You shud whack Proton and Mahathir. Proton for donkey years were under your Godfather, Mahathir. He started Proton. It order to ensure this pet project of his does not fail, he increase tax on non-national cars to make Proton cars "cheaper".
We must admit that Proton cannot compete internationally and has to depend on domestic market but automobil is a global business. Proton does not have the volume. The top 10 car makers in world are selling in excess of one million units per year.
That's is why they can sell cheaper. It is just like producing a national laptop named "Proton" and impose high duties and AP for foreign brands like Acer, Samsung, HP etc.
Fyi, American fresh graduates earn as much as our graduates about USD/RM2,000. They are paying just 10 times of their pay to get a Camry, Accord or Passat whilst our citizens has to pay 70 times their salary. UK fresh graduates gets 1,500-2,000 pounds a month and it is only 6 months pay to get a brand new Vios. Even if our graduates earn RM3,000, it is equivalent to 25 months pay.
I repeat, car is a global business, if you cannot get the volume, it is wise to close/sell it and concentrate on business ventures where we have the economic comparative advantage to compete on a global stage.
So, please channel your grievances to your Godfather, Mahathir. But those who say Proton is not viable, will earn the wrath of Mahathir. Pls please drum it to Mahathir's egoistic brains.
Otherwise, stop complaining.
The price of the same Passat in Singapore is RM 488,000!
By your logic, singapore must be 4th world country (if that exist)
And the people in singapore must be the dumbest ever. Nak kata bodoh pun boleh lahhh.
Che Wal, pls read the other comments. You may then understand the issue.
In S'pore they dont tax the VW to RM488,000 to support a 'Singapore national car' that sells for RM70,000 or RM50,000. This is a big difference.
Even if you make your own Singapore national car, they will still tax it to RM488,000 also.
Why? Because the policy of the island nation is to discourage car ownership.
Instead they provide one of the best rated public transport systems in the world. You dont need a car in S'pore.
Having said that, in Spore anyone can still become a car dealer and still import any car from anywhere in the world. You just pay the high taxes.
SAA
CheWal,
Ple do your maths and compare apple to apple. If you want to compare, you will always have to look on a percentage basis. Dollar for dollar, Spore cars are cheaper than cars in Malaysia even with COE.
With efficient public transport, many Singaporeans do not need a car to move around the small island. And being a small place, the government must control the number of cars, to avoid massive congestion. This is understandable.
Cars in Europe, America, Middle East are dirt cheap. Spore graduates earn as must as Malaysian graduates (about S$2,500/month). Thus for a Passat (if it is RM488,000 as you said) it is only 80 months pay while It is 106 months pay for Malaysian fresh graduates. Dollar for dollar everything is cheap in a develop country. Please do your research.
Tuan,
A Passat will cost US$21,000 in the US. With 300% tax, it will cost only US$ US$63,000 to import one. This is equivalent to RM195,000. How come they are selling at RM265,000. The difference belongs to AP holder? I thought franchise AP holder does not get that much.
Similarly, a Canon DSLR (60D) camera cost RM3200 in Low Yat. A camera shop is Lucky Plaza Spore is selling the same camera for about SD$1000 or RM 2,450. And camera is tax free. How come this be? As a percentage of income a Spore graduate can buy the camera for less than a month's pay why we stupid Malaysians need to spend a months pay to get the camera.
That is the situation in all developed country. The cost of living is expensive but it is expensive to us not to them. They have higher purchasing power.
Comparison is often made is like this :
What can 1,000 UD$ buy you in New York, Tokyo, London, Sydney, Ho Chi Minh, New Delhi, Kuala Lumpur etc. Off course 1000 US$ can buy you more things in Kuala Lumpur or Ho Chi Minh. It is therefore not a a fair or accurate comparison. One has to take the average income of a country and how much one need to spend (as a percentage of income) to buy a certain goods/services. In London, everything is cheap (as a percentage of income earn). But when you start to multiply by 5, then it gets expensive. Even then there are many things that are still cheaper even after multipling by 5! e.g cars, high speed internet broadband, pay tv, phone calls, smart phones etc.
hidup kerajaan yg makan duit rakyat! agak2 la nak kutip cukai sampai bebankan smua org.sekarang ak nak byr ptptn pun xmampu.da nak naik 8% sape yg belum byr.
stupid government stupid malaysia!!!
what i can sd is...
I dun mind to pay petrol at full price, just like Singapore. But car price, road tax, toll must reduced at least 50%!! Public transport have to be very efficient, improve our education system and public facilities. Not only that, people especially ministers have to get rid their childish mentality in order to change the Msia status.

When all of us stop buying new cars for next 6mths,,,i bet slashing price will work. But an 3rd world like us wanna KIASU
just stop buying new cars next 6mths
Anon 8.08....... The world would be better if people like u with mind attached to car exhaust keep quite rather than bising tak tentu pasal.
the cause of everything is RAKYAT.
RAKYAT chose the GOV - Majority
Examples:
I am selling a brand new car for RM160k, instantly rakyat come and buy. why I need to sell the car for RM10k? Stupid if I do that.
WHY BLAME GOV? WHY NOT BLAME OURSELVES?
