Dr M all for Cabinet members to declare assets
KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is in favour of Cabinet members declaring their assets, but it should not be to the public.
“If the asset declaration is made public, then people will focus on that and not on unity or development.”
He also said those who become ministers must be honest. “If they feel they are not honest, please resign and don't wait to be kicked out.
Dr Mahathir was commenting on a suggestion by the MACC that Cabinet ministers declare their assets as well as that of their family to the MACC.
Here is Dr Chua Soi Lek
Yes to assets declaration
BATU PAHAT: MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek supports the move to make ministers declare their assets to the MACC and hopes it will also cover top government officials, including ministry secretaries-general and directors-general.
He said the declaration, which should include that of spouses and family members, should be made to the prime minister and the MACC.
I am glad that both Tun Dr Mahathir and Chua Soi Lek the MCA president, agree that the MInisters, their spouses, family members and (as suggested by Chua) even top Government officials should do the same.
I think there is some momentum gathering here. Referring to the Cabinet Ministers, Dr Mahathir says “If they feel they are not honest, please resign and don't wait to be kicked out."
This refers to "INEXPLICABLE WEALTH" or kekayaan misteri. Wealth that cannot be explained. If it cannot be explained, then it must have been gotten by dishonest means. Kekayaan yang telah diperolehi secara misteri. Dr Mahathir says 'better resign now and dont wait to be kicked out'.
Another way of putting it is 'jangan berebut nak jadi calon sekali lagi'. Just withdraw quietly and disappear. It may save your neck - though there is no guarantee of that either (referring the Khir Toyo case). And I dont think 'I dont speak English' will save you in a Malaysian Court either (as opposed to an Australian Court).
The fight against corruption has to start from the top. Clean up those at the top and the downliners will also fall in place. If those at the top are drowning in KEKAYAAN MISTERI, that is not the best example for the lower liners.
The time has come where we cannot have Ministers, their spouses, topcats in Government service and the GLCs living a life of luxury and extravagance based on "inexplicable wealth". This thing has to stop now.

Yo Syed:
I wholeheartedly agree with you that the fight against corruption must start from the very top. Can you get Razak Baginda and his wife to explain how they got RM 500 million from the Scorpene deal ?
Godfather
Better still, Syed, get all the people at the top to explain where they have transferred all the funds e.g. in the case of PKFZ, ask Tiong to show where he transferred all the profits of KDSB. Ask Awang Adek where he transferred the monthly payments to his personal account.
Godfather
Tun Dr. M & Chua Soi Lek should be brave to declare first even though they are no longer holding government post. Declare la, apa takut if semuanya halal.
Fighting corruption in this country is like to prevent the rain falling from the sky. In fact we can claim our top spot as having the highest corrupt skill in the world. We can set up a special school where students from developed countries can learn our corrupt skills. In Malaysia, corruptions comes from various forms; donations. contracts, kickbacks, vacations, Birkin handbags and so on.. the list are infinite and so are the greed. The two very basic ingredient for corruption are there; a proclaimed muslim and power. Combined these two ingredients, we have the recipe for corruptions of the highest order or heaven; depending on which side we belong. If we are not willing and not ready to remove the basic ingredients of corruptions, then fighting it will become a zero sum game. By the way, we already get used and comfortable with these unethical way of life since independent. The country still flourish, the foreigners are still coming despite complaining these and that. What we need is to fine tune a little bit, for example legalized the corruption.
If politicians need to reveal threir kekayaan misteri, then those presently serving sentence have to be released on parole due to space constraints owing to sudden influx of VIP politicians.
Yes, Can you, Mr Syed, can you? Conform to the suggestions of Godfather 2:09?
what happen if they hide wealth thro' nominees or crony??
The good action and the bad are both the will of God [InshaAllah].Like a good script writer God create BOTH the villian and hero for the human drama [story] to unfold.
Cabinet ministers and their family members should not be subjected to stringent requirements such as declaring their assets to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC), said Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
haaaa....gotcha!!!!
Syed,
Just to share this...
“You and I are not in The big club.
By the way, its the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe.
All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy.
The table has tilted folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care.
Good honest hard-working people... white collar, blue collar it doesnt matter what color shirt you have on.
Good honest hard-working people continue, these are people of modest means . . . continue to elect these rich ***** who dont give a ***** about you.
They dont give a ***** about you . . . they dont give a ***** about you. They dont care about you at all . . . at all . . . at all, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. Thats what the owners count on.
The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick thats being jammed up their ***** everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth.
Its called the American Dream, 'cause you have to be asleep to believe it . . .”

Does it sound familiar in Bolehland...?
You be the judge.
Shalom.
And ask Anwar to explain how as an ex-convict he was able to build a super luxurious bungalow in Bkt Segambut and spend lavishly on his numerous travels overseas and paying his retinue of expensive lawyers for his sodomy trials? Dia kerja apa ada duit banyak macam tu?And while we are on the subject, can we also ask his side-kick Azmin to explain his and his wife questionable wealth? Boleh ka?
Bro Syed,
Not only d ministers but their senior officers esp those gatekeepers at d office...
There is one known case...a senior private secretary...owns 3 luxury cars and paid in cash when his monthly salary is not even 10k...this guy is filthy rich...
Turns out the minister was helming a ministry chruning out projects...recently the ministry claims to have gotten 12billion budget for housing, roads, electricity and water projects...imagine lah how much more that private secretary will tapaw?
There is one mamak former polsect...his is one good example or "kekayaan terkejut tergempaq"... dulu dirt poor but now obscenely rich, can afford a artiste wife some more...turns out he was formerly pol sec of a finance minister...now showing his parpu face in the hope to be picked as a candidate for kepala batas parliamentary seat...
So, the point is while asking the minister to declare assets, ask and check also their officers....some very show off of the kekayaan terkejut tergempaq but some very pandai one, dress up like an ordinary guy but the house, aiyoh! And the car, aiyoh!!!
I think fighting corruption in Malaysia is a lost cause.....the executive, the judiciary.the civil servants and the people at large...all are corrupt to the core.
Mr Sayeed,
Transparency is a must. Reporting to the cabinet is a sham. It must be to the public.
I am even ok with some small unexplained wealth. There should be nothing major.
Any big time crook with even half a brain would know how to clean up his official assets record for public scrutiny.
So let's not put any faith in this declaring of assets that the politicians are now heboh-ing. All sandiwaras.
There are more ingeneous ways than one to hide their ill gotten gains.....and the proxy way is one of the most popular methods. That's why all big shots have their own set of cronies, the same old faces which they have come to trust to keep their mouths shut and the monies safe.
allo syed,
-corruption, one sure thing is that even corrupt fat badass scumbags hate corruption. or at least these corrupt bastards are acting innocent and playing dumb as if all dudes are retarded, high on drugs and living in limbo land.
-as a constitutional democratic nation, bolehland's people are the masters of the government. but according to tun m and chua sex lick comments, definitely one could comprehend them as otherwise as these 2 dudes do not want public to know this declaration of stuff by the cabinet members and top bureaucrats.
-now, either letting the people play a guessing game or letting the people know do not matter much anymore. however, for a drama to be successful, dramatic and end up with a happy ending, declaration from all these dudes should fit the purpose to satisfy the people's hunger for incorruptible and with integrity cabinet members. don't dream, no one will get caught as these dudes are not dumbos and with professional help surely these dudes won't have a sleepless night as they always can work out something. proxy here and proxy there would cover the trails pretty neat and tidy and no one could ever stumble on their INEXPLICABLE WEALTH anywhere not just macc even the blood-hounds cannot smell these trails. but will this deception kind of crap works by implanting thoughts and predicting behaviors. people are not damn fool anymore.
But why declare to the Prime Minister and MACC only? Shouldn't it be made public so that we know who to vote for when the time comes?
Syed, this exercise should also cover state MBs and ministers/exco. There should be a yearly disclosure just like any rakyat when we disclose our assets to LHDN.
Let's see how the politicians take it...
batcha
Elections are near so this is the mantra the BN speaks.Don't get excited ,no one will declare their wealth and that goes for Mahatir and Soi Lek too.
For all the Billions stolen from the rakyat you seriously think they want the gravy train to end? Get real. They will milk Malaysia dry and then leave the shit behind for us to clean up .
it will never ever happen, never, nyet , nahi,la and never ever ever in all the languages of the world.
Tun Dr M (as usual) stopped short of providing a real solution. He did not answer the question of whom should the Minister report to, if they don't declare their assets publicly.
If they were to declare to the PM, wouldn't they be held ransom by the PM (if they have something to hide) ?
I think public declaration is best. For instance, in the US, the tax return of the President of the USA is public info.
Our ministers don't get paid a lot, that's for sure but how can they account for luxurious houses ? Oh, one minister's family members gets paid an aggregate monthly salary of RM 215,000 courtesy of the taxpayers through their meat company.
At least we know now !
"The fight against corruption has to start from the top. Clean up those at the top and the downliners will also fall in place."
The top is najib. The fish head is rotten. How do you clean the rest?
With all due respect to Dr M...
why shouldn't asset declaration be made public - after all politicians are voted in by the public. It is in their favour too - assuming before public office they were successfull entrepreneurs or professionals, then the public is aware that they were independently wealthy even then. Hence that wealth (presumably not ill-gotten) should not be questioned.
Talk is easy. Dr M can say what he wants and when he wants. He is no longer on the spot light.
There is corruption/favoritism at every level of the government. It doesnt matter if they are the present or the past.
The top 20 riches man in Malaysia is the son of Dr M. Need I say more?
