Bersih 3.0 Is About Gays And Lesbians?

I did not know that. Till I read this in the newspaper:

  • Datuk S. Ambiga .. is not fit to lead the movement because of her ties with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual (LGBT) community,
  • Nasharudin Mat Isa said PAS should instead take the lead in the Bersih 3.0 demonstration planned for Saturday.
  • “.. homosexuals are not even fit to be dined with. If we follow the fatwa, then yes, Ambiga should definitely not lead the Bersih 2.0 movement or the demonstration,”
  • anti-LGBT forum in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia here yesterday.
  • better for PAS to lead it instead of someone who supports the LGBT cause,” he said.
  • forum was organised by Pertubuhan Muafakat Sejahtera Masyarakat Malaysia (Muafakat)
  • ".. homosexuality as a cancer, disease and “behaviour worse than animals”, they said
  • “I don't care about being called homophobic because I will oppose homosexuality till my dying breath,” said Mahamad Naser.
  • forum followed an anti-LGBT demonstration held in Universiti Putra Malaysia on Saturday.

Folks, so the street demonstration planned for this Saturday has been changed to a gay and lesbian rights march.  Getting a bit confusing here.  It started off as an anti-EC rally. Then the anti- PTPTN demonstrators joined in. Now it is becoming a gay and lesbian rally.  Oh well.

By the way, even post graduate PhD students are getting involved in the anti-PTPTN rally. Here is The Star again :

  • Student charged with obstructing City Hall officer
  • A student allegedly involved in the Occupy Dataran movement has been charged in a magistrate’s court here...  "..pleaded not guilty to deliberately obstructing City Hall enforcement officer from discharging his duties in detaining and escorting Fahmi Reza Zarin, 35."

What? A 35 year old demonstrator?

I thought these were all 20 year old undergrad university students? What was a 35 year old fellow doing at the anti-PTPTN rally? Maybe he was a postgrad PhD student? Maybe.

Last week we received info that more than half the anti-PTPTN demonstrators at Dataran Merdeka were not students. (As though that is any big surprise). Many are unemployed PAS guys who are obviously paid something to demonstrate at the Dataran. Food is provided. Cant figure out where they go for the toilet though. The river is nearby.

Anyway here are some old pictures I picked up on the Net.

Above and below : The Madonna,  En el nombre de la Virgen

Pic above : Birds of a feather ..

Before and after shots (ie rabies shots)

Conclusion : Anything goes. Mono, poly, hetero, homo, bi, trans.

Mr Fahmi Reza actually is an activist.. liberal & pro communist activist. he is the one who make the documentary "10 Tahun Sebelum Merdeka".

judging from his action recently, he might become future Hissamudin Rais, Anwar Ibrahim @ MAt Sabu along with Adam Adli & the geng.

Anonymous 1:35pm.

We have to wait for god to appear in the skies to have his final say. Otherwise, gays and lessos are definitely to be stoned to death.

"Bersih 3.0 Is About Gays And Lesbians?"

Just to share this...

“We believe, contemporary Muslim thought must approach those issues in the light of the higher objectives (al-maqāsid) inferred from the texts, contexts and history.
What in effect, in contemporary societies and apart from confused digressive discourse about religious and cultural pluralism, does the respect of dignity, welfare, freedom, equality, andjustice mean for individuals within a given society?
Those are the higher objectives of maqāsid asy-Syarī’ah (the higher objectives of Law) and it is in their light and in their respect that, visions of society and the institution of common laws must be considered.
This must begin with a thorough reflection from within about the meaning and outline of a contemporary implementation of syarī’ah understood in terms of norms aiming to fulfil the higher goals of the global message. The issue is complex; and the challenge is formidable.”

Speech by Dr Ahmad Farouk Musa, Director and Chairman of Islamic Renaissance Front (IRF) during a Lecture on “Is Liberty an Islamic Value?” by Professor Tariq Ramadan, 12th July 2010. - http://www.irfront.org/s5/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=305:speech-by-dr-ahmad-farouk-musa-director-and-chairman-of-islamic-renaissance-front-irf-during-a-lecture-on-is-liberty-an-islamic-value-by-professor-tariq-ramadan-12th-july-2010&catid=74:speeches&Itemid=350

"Freedom of assembly is enshrined in Article 10 of our constitution. Any act that violates this freedom is reprehensible.

We realise that this conflict stems from the static and stagnant approach to understanding Islamic law.

The codified law in Islamic jurisprudence derived through the exercise of juristic reasoning of the latter years was considered sacred and beyond reproach. Hence the most rigid and literalist interpretations tend to prevail.

The defenders of faith failed to look at ample evidence in the Quran that gives the liberty to the people to freely follow their conviction.

Any individuals are given the right to accept or reject a particular faith based on his personal conviction.

"There shall be no coercion in matters of faith" [Qur'an, 2:256]

“And [thus it is] had thy Sustainer so willed, all those who live on earth would surely have attained to faith, all of them: dost thou, then, think that thou couldst compel people to believe” [Qur'an, 10:99]

This message of freedom of belief and the call to religious tolerance is reiterated time and time again in the Quran and through various Prophets.

This has been the call of all the Prophets even before Prophet Muhammad. Refer the Quran [7:85-87, 39:39-40, 17:84].

Faith is a personal conviction.
The state has no authority to interfere in one’s choice of faith.

One is answerable to God for the decision he or she makes in her life.

Hitherto it is very perturbing that a lawmaker proposed for Faith Crime Act to be enacted by the government.

This act infringes on God given right for us to believe on our free will.

No one has the authority to take this right from us.

We are answerable to God alone in the life to come.

We must ensure that our community embraces this freedom of religion and we will not succumb to any threat to remove this freedom away from us.

The principle of reciprocity is to be upheld since it gives a meaning to the concept of justice.

In a modern multiracial society like us, where different faiths lives together, we have to respect the right of an individual to choose and convert to a faith that he or she believes in.

There should not be undue pressure or coercion for a person to believe in a faith he or she has no belief anymore.

It would be a real tragedy and disaster when a state started imposing its authority in matters of faith.

The writer is chairman and director of Islamic Renaissance Front (IRF).

There is NO such thing as personal will as All is God's will.To be a believer or not is also God's will.
The entire universe is a game of solitaire for god.He scripted both the bad actions and the good. The hero and the villians are his story line for his entertainment. The world is a hologram that came out of god [as the reflections come out of the mirror and itself veiled over by the reflections] The essense of the universe and its contents are the ONE absolute GOD.The root pointer in the kithab is Tawhid.Do not live in seperation in believe in the images projected by God to be real.Life is BUT a dream and nothing within the dream is Real except for the Witness.who is also the dreamer upon awakening. This the truth that set us free from the ego and the illusionary world.By knwing that all that can be known are illusions we intuite that the only Reality is GOD

This matter should be openly discussed years ago. It has never brought to public attention because we are living in a culture where religion plays a big role to determine our acceptance and tolerance towards others’ being, although, it has never really represent our individual perception towards gays and lesbians.
I wish for all of us to put aside our judgment and instead of looking at this from religion point of view, let’s discuss this merely based on humanity value. I have been instilled in my mind since my tender age that homosexuality is a sin. Growing up, whoever chose to come out from their closest or not, will never have a happy ending in their life.
A homosexual individual who chose to live in denial, living a lie their whole life. Those who openly admit they are homosexual are be bound for condemnation. Parents disowned their child fear for being a sinner and community disapproval. Parents, who chose to accept their homosexual child, will be condemned by the community for approving this forbidden behaviour. Like I said, either way, it’s a dead end for them. It can be changed and it has to change.
Homosexuality was once categorised as psychological disorder. And now, after years of medical & science research, homosexual is not a choice of life, it is a complex interplay of biological and environmental factors.
Would you choose to be different and out of norm knowing the consequences ahead of you?
Is it wrong to be true to who you are?
And for all the believers - What is the rational behind this discrimination against the gays & lesbians apart from what the book says?
My human belief outweighs all reasons I find in any religion. Be good to one another, let him/her deal with his/her creator...after all, he is the CREATOR. - Yun

Willy nilly, before we've absorbed the news, may come the latest info that the reason for the protest march has been changed to a demonstration of the group's vehement disapproval of the colour and skimpiness of the leaders' panty/jock-strap.
