Thanks A Million Again

Folks my Blog crossed another million visitors a few days back. I have slightly over 4.0 million visitors to my Blog now. Thank you very much for all your support, your taking the time off to read my Blog and for sending in your comments as well.

I also wish to thank those people whose comments I have also deleted from time to time. There are various reasons I delete some comments - some are nasty, devious (cybertroopers whose job is to throw up red herrings), fraudulent information and some are very misinformed. N'theless you too have taken the time to read my Blog. Do keep reading it. If you read my Blog often enough, who knows maybe you will wake up some day and without realising it, you will start thinking like me. Better watch out !! Dont say I did not warn you. I am out to get you :)

I did a search on my Blog. One outfit called Webstats has done some ranking. Here is where my Blog sits (or stands) :

"syedsoutsidethebox.blogspot.com is ranked 351,760 in the world (among the 30 million domains). This site is relatively popular among users in the Malaysia. It gets 96.2% from Malaysia

Boleh tahan lah if I am ranked 351,760 out of 30.0 million domains in the world.  That is at the top 1% of 30 million domains in the world.  Since 96.2% of hits are from Malaysia, thanks again folks.

I also want to thank those people who have set up mirror sites which seem to re-publish my Blog. I have come across at least a couple of these on the Net. One guy has even catalogued my posts. I saw these mirror sites once or twice when I did a Yahoo and Google search about my Blog. Interesting and  thank you for the effort.

If you would like me to address anything specific do let me know. I do take requests. Also send me your stuff and I will see if I can use it. I will not be able to use it all the time but lets see.

Islam, Quran and religious issues are of great interest to me. For my Muslim readers we are in a very precarious situation. I met a friend through this Blog, a succesful Malay who is an American educated engineer and a CEO of a listed company. He predicts that in about 30 years 'the Muslims in this country are going to crash to the bottom'. Considering that he correctly predicted 330 electoral votes for Obama recently, he is not simply shooting from the hip.

Sadly the Muslims do not even know they are in trouble. In fact when they walk some of them are almost floating a couple of centimetres off the floor. They are bound straight for heaven - so they believe.

My prediction is if the oil price crashes, if alternatives are found for oil or if the consumption of oil drops the fate of the Muslims all over the world will be hastened. The Wahhabi Saudis will be the first to go. Just like them, without any shadow of a doubt a sizeable part of our standard of living is also derived almost directly from "burning" Petronas' oil revenues.  No Petronas oil revenue, we will be eating grass.

I say "burning" because we overspend our oil money wildly with little or no new wealth generation.  RM650 million for a bus station. RM500 million for a tin shed LCCT Terminal.  Dont know how many hundred million Ringgit for those cameras.  Lately have you noticed DBKL's little electronic signboards stuck on the lamposts along the roads in KL? How many million Ringgit was spent for that?  And what purpose do they serve? Does it justify the amount of money spent?

This type of waste cannot be sustained forever.  If you dont believe me please catch a flight and visit Indonesia. Their billions of oil earnings went to terrible waste. Only now they are reorganising themselves.  Some of you think Indonesia is already on their way up. Well lets hope so and lets wish them well. But just answer this question - how many more years will it take before they stop swimming across the Straits of Malacca to get over here?  I think it is going to take a long time.

Somewhere along the way, these once great people - the descendants of the great Majapahits, Sri Vijayas and cousins of the Cholas , Khmers, Sukhothais and Ayuthayas - just dropped out of history. They became uncompetitive.  In the 21st century we are in danger of becoming like them.

Wrapping ourselves up inside these hate filled, non-competitive religious cocoons is going to make us remain as ugly caterpillars. No beautiful butterfly is ever going to emerge from a religious caterpillar. It will remain an ugly caterpillar.

We need to seriously reform 'religion' in this country. We need to become real Muslims. All over the world Islam has been hijacked by the semi-literates, illiterates and the imbeciles. And you my Muslim friends contribute a large part to this sorry situation. When it comes to Islam, even if you are a PhD holder you are ready to surrender your common sense to the semi-literate imbeciles.

The time has come where educated and thinking Muslims seize the moment and regain Islam for ourselves.  The time is now.  The thinking Malays - those who are educated and progressive must organise themselves and kick out the imbecile religionists  from their perch. If you dont do it, no one else will do it for you.  The first step is very easy - do not listen to them. Stop listening to them. The second step is easier - arm yourself with knowledge from the Quran. It is really very simple.

I think it has been five years in this Blog. I am still the same. Kalau nak kata arrogant, katalah. I have not changed my style. Too old to change lah. Umur nak pencen dah. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks.

I meet people. I think I have made a mark. The idea is to leave behind a lasting impression.  To all those people I have insulted in my Blog, dont take it personally. If you are a politician or some kind of public personality and I have hit you - well it is part of your occupational hazard. Grow up. If I have not insulted you yet, now that is an insult.

In 55 B.C., the Roman politician Cicero wrote,

“The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

This is very sound advice. Despite 2067 years not many Governments have listened to this simple common sense.  Please be advised.

Talibanisation Of Putrajaya - Ali Hamsa Wake Up

The unisex hair salon controversy in Kota Bharu has been quite an eye opener. The fact is only now it has become a media issue. The Kota Bharu folks proudly say that they have had these regulations for 10 years now. This is the creeping Talibanisation that has been going on in this country since the 1980s - since Anwar Ibrahim and the ABIM dunggus were co-opted into Government. Unfortunately only now we are reacting.

Here is more. This one involves the Federal Government in Putrajaya. Recently a group of about 40 college students (30 boys, 10 girls) visited the world renowned and award winning Diamond Building which houses the Energy Commission in Putrajaya (Suruhanjaya Tenaga). This was an official visit to study the building's design and aesthetics. Dr Soontom Boonyatikam of Thailand  was the principal architect for the Diamond Building.

The students piled into a small auditorium for a 'taklimat'. At the auditorium the students were told by a loud female security guard that the boys and girls must sit on different sides.

This was obviously another "religious" ruling not unlike the hair dressing salon ruling in Kota Bharu.  But this is Putrajaya. Federal Territory. Barisan Nasional. Not Talibanistan. Not Kelantanistan.

Of the 40 students, only two girls and three boys were Muslim. The remaining 35 were non Muslims.  So 30 boys had to cram the seats all the way to the back rows whereas the 10 girls filled up only two rows in front. Half the auditorium was full and the other half was empty. Isnt that a silly way of using an auditorium?

These are students doing a "lawatan sambil belajar" thing - why not let them sit up front on whichever available empty seats where it would be easier for them to take notes, ask questions,  interact with the 'taklimat'  speaker and stuff?

And it was a female security guard who was playing the role of the "religious watchdog" here.

In Malaysia there is always an understood decorum at many public functions, whether it involves Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians etc.  There is always some tendency for the women to be on one side and the men to sit on another side.

In Punjabi Sikh functions the women do not sit too freely with the men and vice versa. Even in Hindu weddings and functions there is some traditional  influence in the same direction. The men and women do sit apart - not very visibly apart but there is some decorum.  Of course in more modern social gatherings this may be a lot less.

However none of this 'cultural etiquette' is written in stone.  They dont kill anyone in a Sikh wedding if the men and women sit near each other.  Neither will anyone shout at you or boss you around.  Just chill and be cool.

I frequently attend seminars at an Islamic Institute in Petaling Jaya (The International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies at Jalan Elmu). The women sit to one side and the men sit on another side but this is NOT a fixed and fast or a written rule.  If the hall has many people attending then people sit where ever there are empty seats. No one gets killed, no men get molested by any women (or vice versa) just because they sit in the same rows.  So just relax ok. (Please stop thinking of sex, sex, sex, sex, sex, sex all the time. Kau orang ni psycho sex betul lah).

So what is going on in Putrajaya? What is our new KSN doing? I hope our KSN Dato Ali Hamsa does not identify himself with any society which has a tendency to put its women in burqas, purdahs and other such tents and blankets. I hope the KSN will appreciate the urgency  - we dont need the Talibanisation of Putrajaya. Please issue a 'surat pekeliling' or whatever is necessary to nip this Rafflesia which unfortunately has already bloomed in Putrajaya.

As I have said many, many times before the people who are entrusted to uphold these ridiculous religious rules are often the lowest educated members of our society

I am sure that security guard at the Energy Commission's Diamond Building does not hold a PhD. Does she even have an SPM? It is always the least educated members of society (inlcuding the lebai surau plus the ostat fellows) who act as these moral guardians of religion.  That is another reason why the Islamic countries get screwed up.  The dunggus are put in charge of religion.

Pakatan Demolished Seven Hindu Temples, Altars

This is from today's Star:

Smashed: A MPSP officer demolishing the altar at Gopi’s house in Sepang.

Indians outraged over demolition of Hindu altar in house
  • Sepang Council's demolition Hindu altar in house cause  uproar Indian community.
  • 30 officers went to house Nov 20 demolished altar, within the  compound.
  • House owner received notice from council to demolish it
  • “went to council to appeal and was told it would be considered.
  • we have to pay a RM250 daily fine
  • “officers arrived without notice and demolished it,”
  • Sakthi Association said common for Hindus and Chinese to have altars.
  • “.. Selangor Government, of which PAS is a part not tolerant towards Hindu
  • under Pakatan Rakyat, Hindus, Buddhist and Taoists cannot have altars at home?”
  • State EXCO Dr Xavier Jeyakumar said local councils had the right to take action
  • altar not a religious place as no prayers or ceremonies held there.
  • Sivarraajh described Dr Xavier's response as “nonsense”
  • “Is he saying that those who erect altars inside their homes have contravened laws?”
  • Pakatan had promised not demolish religious place it came to power in 2009
  • since then, seven temples had been torn down.

Well Xavier Jayakumar is not a Hindu.  I wish I can say here that this is what you get for voting for Pakatan.  But there are   By Laws that we must respect.

This is a concrete structure that is not part of the original house. It therefore needs an approval. The family should just submit an application to build a concrete structure in their house. Whether they wish to use it as an altar, as a storage box or whatever has to be properly submitted to the local council and properly approved. That should be the way.

Most local councils will be in a position to approve such requests. You cannot build them too big. Neither can you do things like burn big fires in them. The odd joss stick or two, the kemenyan etc is usually tolerated in Malaysia. (Though I seriously think we need a proper sit down and a proper way to do these things. Please have consideration for our multi racial and multi religious neighbours)

But whether BN or Pakatan, they still have to manage things.

We have already seen in the few States they are ruling the corruption is worse than the BN. They claim they are angels but they actually stink worse. They may have promised not to demolish temples but you can see the picture yourself. That guy is swinging a sledge hammer to destroy that altar - inside a house.

Jawatankuasa Wanita DAP Selangor 100% Melayu !!

I got this from AIDC who quote Helen Ang's Blog. The Wanita DAP Selangor has appointed / annointed / elected / selected their latest Jawatankuasa Wanita DAP Selangor. Its 100% Malay.  Here is the full list of their Jawatankuasa members :
Jawatankuasa Wanita DAP Selangor
  1. Pengerusi: Hannah Yeoh Abdullah
  2. Timbalan Pengerusi: Lee Kee Hiong Abdullah
  3. Naib Pengerusi: Prema a/p Arasan Abdullah
  4. Naib Pengerusi: Kasthuriraani a/p Patto Abdullah
  5. Setiausaha: Chang She-Yun Abdullah
  6. Penolong Setiausaha: Evelyn Gan Teng Ping Abdullah
  7. Bendahari: Loh Jean Cheah Abdullah
  8. Penolong Bendahari: Dorothy Cheong Chye Wah Abdullah
  9. Setiausaha Organisasi: Lee Shim Moi Abdullah
  10. Setiausaha Publisiti: Kwi Ai Mei Abdullah
  11. Pengarah Pendidikan Politik: Buvaneswary a/p Balasubramaniam Abdullah
AJK:
12. Teo Nie Ching Abdullah
13. Tiew Way Keng Abdullah
14. Chia Siu Abdullah
15. Law Suet Peng Abdullah
Ok I am just kidding.  I just added the 'Abdullah' to make fun of their so called "multi racial" lineup.

Its a farce.  There is NOT even ONE MALAY woman in the Jawatankuasa Wanita DAP Selangor "multi-racial" line up.
Here is something from the Wikipedia :  "Selangor has the largest population in Malaysia at 5,411,324 as of 2010.  The State's ethnic composition consists of Malay 52.9%, Chinese 27.8%, Indian 13.3%"
52.9% of 5.4 million people means the Malays make up 2.86 million people in Selangor.  If half are women  this means there are about 1.43 million Malay women in Selangor.  You mean out of this 1.43 million Malay females, the DAP Selangor could not even find ONE, SINGLE, SOLITARY Malay woman to be put on their Jawatankuasa Wanita DAP Selangor?
And yet they call themselves a "multi racial" party representing ALL RACES ?
The three Indian girls (Prema, Kasthuri and Buvaneswary) will most probably play the role of the fetchers and getters. Go fetch this, go get that.  Just wait and see.
The other plausible reason is that very few Malays support the DAP.  So they cannot find any Malay women to populate their J'tankuasa Wanita DAP Selangor.  Why not change the name of the party - the Democratic Non-Malay Party?
Multi racial my a$$.

Muhyiddin Kicks Off 'Serang Dan Perang'

The UMNO General Assembly is on. On Tuesday 27th November the party Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin delivered a keynote address to the Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri wings.

This is the last UMNO Assembly before the General Elections. The party is united, tight in their formations and walking in lockstep. Party unity is extremely important and this time around there are no doubts or frustrations with the President and his Deputy. These are the two most important positions in the party. One leads. The other can replace him (ha ha ha).

I recall just before the 2008 elections, we were all plotting how to bring down the party president at that time. It is a great strength (and weakness) in UMNO that we do not throw out the president like they do in the Arab countries. If we had done that, it would have saved us a lot of trouble. But the party is fairly well disciplined. So the members used the long winded route - they voted against UMNO in the general elections. That is how the Pakatan Riot dunggus won the five states and the 2/3 majority was lost.  Please dont even for one minute think that the Pakatan won because they had their own strengths or attradctions. Do not be delusional.

The Deputy President's speech provides ample evidence of this. Tan Sri Muhyiddin has made a fighting speech. The speech has really roused the troops. I think we can have the elections next week. The boys and girls are ready.

Before I get too carried away here are some main points from Muhyiddin's speech:

Politik Perkongsian Kuasa

This is a statement of fact by Muhyiddin. Despite the MCA and Gerakan getting their butts kicked there are still 17 Chinese Ministers and Deputy Ministers in the Cabinet.  Nowhere else in the world can we find a country where a minority people with less than 25% of the population hold 17 important Ministerial positions in Government.  The Indian and other minority communities are also well represented in the Cabinet.

This is a relevant point about PAS. I want to ask the non Muslims. Ponder this - when PAS talks about hudud, kafir and speak against secularism who do you think they are appealing to? To you the non Muslims? Dont be stupid ok.

Theirs is a very narrow and very racist appeal to the Malays. And when PAS talks about hudud, kafir and talk against secularism who do you think they are directing their poison at?   Mahatma Gandhi? Jangan jadi bodoh. They are pointing their spears and swords at you - the non Muslims.  You are the folks who support secularism. You are the folks who are against hudud.  So when the PAS accuses UMNO of being "parti sekular" they are actually talking about you - the non Muslims.

Spot on Tan Sri. While PAS has been appealing to Malay racial sentiment disguised as religion the DAP has been appealing to narrow Chinese racial sentiment disguised as 'Malaysian Malaysia'.  And here is something interesting about the DAP and PAS. Ha ha ha. Read and laugh.

Folks did you know this? I did not realise this. There is only one PAS ADUN in Penang. Yet the DAP has refused to let him in the State Exco. Talk about power sharing. Kasi chan lah kepada ADUN PAS itu? Takkan biar dia jadi Lone Ranger saja?

Tit for tat. You burn my serban I burn your turban. So in Kedah the sole DAP rep has not been given a seat in the Exco either. PAS has shut them out.

Here are some other sharp observations by Muhyiddin :

Alamak, in 2008 PAS only contested 66 Parliamentary seats out of 222. So how can their fisherman Hadi Nelayan become the PM? Even if they win every seat they contest their Hadi Nelayan cannot become the PM. Nak buat hudud pun tak boleh. They are just bullshitting the Malay people. Membohong.

I think this is why Harakah daily ran this picture of Hadi Nelayan on THEIR FRONT PAGE.  They know Hadi is only fit to be a nelayan.  Even the Harakah has no confidence in Hadi as Prime Minister.

This one I want to claim some credit for saying from much earlier that the Pakatan do not believe in freedom of speech and democracy. Their libel suits total more than RM1.0 billion already? Wow!! They really want to shut up the media. And yes they have banned the media from covering their events. And they call themselves democratic?

To all you dunggu Pakatan supporters out there. Can you use your brains for five minutes. Please go and buy a copy of the Harakah - the PAS newspaper. You will find all sorts of lies and distortions about the BN, UMNO and the Government in that newspaper.  You will never find even one good word about the Government in the Harakah. These are simple facts that YOU can verify yourself. The Harakah really hates the Govrnment.  But here is a question - has the Harakah ever been banned from covering Government events?  What about the Rocket? Has the DAP's Rocket ever been banned from attending Government functions? I dont think so. So who is democratic and who is not?  Munafiks please answer honestly.

Kita fikir lebih baik Ketua Pembangkang menjemput wakil negara asing untuk memerhati pemilihan PKR. Kita hendak tengok apa komen pemerhati asing mengenai PKR. Bersihkah pemilihan PKR? Bebaskah pemilihan PKR? Adilkah pemilihan PKR? Demokratikkah PKR apabila Ketua Pembangkang mengangkat dirinya sendiri menjadi Ketua Umum parti tanpa melalui proses pemilihan?

Good one Tan Sri. Ask Gobala to head an independent panel of observers to observe the PKR party elections. It was so full of fraud and rigging. Zaid Ibrahim quit the party over the voting fraud. Gobala has been yelling at the top of his voice that the PKR party elections were rigged.  Munafik, munafik.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin quoted four different verses from the Quran in his speech. Here is one :

-   (Surah Al Ma’idah, Ayat 8)

We will always keep this in mind. Finally here are Tan Sri Muhyiddin's closing remarks to UMNO :

Gempurlah musuh kita.
Pantang anak muda menyerah.
Jangan biarkan walau setapak mereka melangkah.
Turunilah ke setiap kota, desa dan lurah.
Dekatilah generasi muda dengan hikmah.
Berjuanglah dengan tabah.
Adat bertarung menjunjung maruah.
Membujur lalu melintang patah.

Very well said Tan Sri. We are ready.

China

Well we have just seen how dumb the Arabs are.

In stark contrast here is a video on China. This news is about the Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning which is now operational. On Sunday November 25th 2012  the Chinese announced that J15 fighter jets, specially built tough for carrier landings, had made take offs and landings from the Liaoning while at sea.

The Chinese have designed and perfected their take off and landing mechanisms on their aircraft carrier. This can be considered a major achievement for a country with no previous experience of running a blue water Navy - not since the time of Admiral Cheng Ho in the 15th century.  Here is a You Tube. Its in Mandarin - Vinnan will understand it ;-)  but you can see what is happening.

With the commissioning of this aircraft carrier the Chinese Navy can no longer be termed a brown water navy.

This aircraft carrier raises the bar all around for China. Those aircraft are home made J15 (based on the Russian Sukhoi SU-33). However they have been modified with folding wings for carrier operations. Their airfarmes are also built tough for carrier take offs and tail hook landings - which are very violent.

In the background in the video you can also see helicopters and escort vessels around the carrier. There must also be a submarine riding shotgun just below the waves nearby.  These are serious naval assets for China.

Here is the interesting part - the Chinese are already building more aircraft carriers. They may be launching two or three more by 2015 - that is three years away.  Some of their new designs are also game changers.

Today a Chinese Naval force has also steamed into the Western Pacific Ocean - beyond Japan. Here is a newsflash from the Chinese Navy dated yesterday :

"MISSILE FRIGATE ZHOUSHAN, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) — A Chinese naval fleet passed through the Miyako Strait and entered West Pacific Ocean for a routine training exercise on Wednesday.  The fleet is carrying out round-the-clock sailing and defense, open sea combat and supply, escort, as well as search and rescue programs.  The fleet comprises of two guided missile destroyers, two missile frigates, a supply ship and shipboard helicopters….”

The British have scrapped their three aircraft carriers. They will be launching the "Queen Elizabeth" and the "Prince of Wales" towards 2020.  The US has only one carrier in the Mediterranean. The other one is under repair. (It could also be Obama's way of telling Israel not to attack Iran - there are not enough carriers to provide cover).

These are the new realites that are emerging.

Saudi Tracking of Women Is the Latest Insult

By Wajeha Al-Huwaider, November 26, 2012

http://www.progressive.org/saudi-tracking-of-women-latest-insult

Two weeks ago, Saudi women’s male guardians began receiving text messages on their phones informing them when women under their custody leave the country, even if they are traveling together.

It’s a new tracking system that was introduced by the Interior Affairs Ministry to monitor women’s cross-border movements as if we were criminals.

Usually, governments around the world try to bring the latest technology to their people to improve their services and to move forward toward the future. But the Saudi government uses the technology to keep its backward traditions, in order to have more control over people’s lives, especially women’s. The new tracking system will keep women even more imprisoned than before.

Saudi women are still suffering a lot in their daily lives. They are still fighting hard at all levels to gain their basic rights.

They are the only women in the whole world who are still not allowed to drive cars. They are treated as immature people under the guardianship laws. Saudi women have to have a male guardian in order to do their own affairs, regardless of their age, their education or their social status.

A Saudi woman can’t do anything, unless she gets permission from her male guardian, who could be her 16-year-old son.

In Saudi Arabia, women can’t study, work, get married or divorced, live alone, rent a place, get medical care, or travel without a man’s permission.

Wajeha Al-Huwaider is a Saudi writer and women’s rights activist. She is the co-founder of the Society for Defending Women’s Rights in Saudi Arabia. In 2011, Newsweek listed her as one of the 150 women who shake the world.

This article raises that never ending question : Kenapa mereka bodoh?

Out Of Harmony With Science

IKIM has written another viewpoint in yesterday's Star titled :  Faith and science in harmony.   You can click on the link above to read their original article.

The article starts off by saying that "what is needed is dialogue between science and religion as each can provide rich insights into reality which is integrated in nature."

I am afraid they have already started off on a wrong footing. The sentence is a mouthful - 'reality which is integrated in nature'?  Isnt it just a long winded way of saying 'reality'?

It is better to view things realistically, in the real world, wide awake, smell the roses, smell the grass, smell  the manure and everything. Stop living in the daydream world. Stop hallucinating ok.

Who told you that man made "religion" is ethical in the first place? Please ponder this point : it is unethical religious values which create too many problems in this world. "Man made religion" which has  superstitions and witchdoctor's influences will not solve anything.

The advanced science that we know has appeared on the scene fairly recently - say 150 years ago. And todate there has been very little harmony between science and "religion". Science deals with reality. Man made religion, on the other hand, too often deals with hocus pocus.

Being a Muslim, the only exception in my view is the Quran - which does not seem to contradict science and is light years away from the man made rules and religions pretending to be "religion".

Here is one proof : please read Surah 4:1 in Arabic and pay very, very close attention to the female and male genders used in that verse. (You can forget about ALL the current translations especially in English -  they intentionally mess up the gender references in that verse, hence you must read the Arabic).  Surah 4:1 talks about the creation of the human species - but who was the first "human" - a man or a woman? Please do read and find out.

Now here is the catch. I hope IKIM will also read Surah 4:1. If they understand it differently now (after I have pointed it out) what will IKIM do? Slam the door on dialogue? Ignore the Quran?  Bury your head in the sand? What will IKIM do?

In stark contrast to Science as well as the Quran - "religion" is often like  a pail full of chicken entrails - waiting to be deciphered by the witchdoctors. There is no way that "religion" is going to find harmony with science.  Some witchdoctors say female or male hair dressers cannot cut the hair of the opposite sex. They forget dentists, doctors, tailors and chiropractors. When enough pressure is piled on them, they can bend their ethics. Their 'religion' is therefore flexible.

Is IKIM too far removed from these witchdoctors? IKIM calls for "dialogue between two of the greatest cultural forces of mankind i.e. science and religion."

They say quite plainly :  "What is needed is dialogue between science and religion as each can provide rich insights into reality which is integrated in nature."

How can there be dialogue between Science and "religion" when IKIM upholds laws that seek to prosecute Muslims who have different views about Islam?  Tak payah lah pi jauh-jauh nak cakap pasal dialog dengan saintis - sesama orang Islam pun tak boleh bercakap habis nak dialog apa lagi?

IKIM was at the forefront when Kassim Ahmad's book was banned. Sudah lupa ke?  IKIM even organised a public seminar (I was there) where speaker after speaker came up to condemn Kassim Ahmad's book.  They did not even bother to invite Kassim Ahmad to rebut their points. Habis ini style dialog apa?  And Kassim Ahmad was sitting in the audience - listening to them criticising his book.

And this is Malaysian style religion. Not Gangnam style. I say this because even across the Straits in Indonesia they do not do any such thing.  In Indonesia there is no government department or religious enforcement authority which can arrest, prosecute and fine or jail any Muslim for believing in Ahlul Sunnah, Shiah, Muhammadiyah, Ahmadiyah or whatever.

I have a question for IKIM? Do the Indonesians have a different Allah?  How come in Indonesia there is no State sanctioned prosecution of Muslims for having different religious views?

How can IKIM even suggest to dialogue between science and religion when they still ban books that do not agree with your religious views? What type of dialogue is that? Or you can prosecute people who speak about religion without a surat tauliah aka 'surat akujanji please toe the line' ?

And at the same time there are thousands of "buku setan" which talk about kahwin dengan jin, tidur dengan hantu, lari dengan pocong, terbang dengan toyol and other such crap. All these rubbish is not banned.

That is what I mean when I say hocus pocus religion seems to be ok, chicken entrails are ok, witchdoctors are also ok.  Talking sense is not ok.

Here is a question for IKIM. Say that someone believes in magical flying horses with wings. Or they believe in imaginary pet unicorns. (This is a free world. You can imagine whatever you want.)  But what should be the proper reaction when someone tells you 'there are no such things as magical flying horses with wings'? There are no pet unicorns either. What shall be the dialogue then? Or will the dialogue simply say 'Tangkap dia'.

Would that be considered a harmony with science?

I have said this before - these so called 'religious intellectuals' dont seem to know what they are talking about. Someone sent a comment and asked, 'they must know something'.  I beg to differ.

The Muslims are in deep trouble (and poor) all around the world because they do not encourage the free and safe exchange of different ideas and views. Islamic societies all over the world (yes even in Indonesia, Aceh and parts of Java are dominated by jihadists) try to control the dialogue. They suppress differences of opinion.

This is a wrong thing to do even when you have the truth on your side. But what if your beliefs are wrong or they are not 100% correct or if they are flawed? You will nail the coffin over your own head if your beliefs are wrong and you do no allow free discussion that may help you correct your mistakes.  This is what the Muslims have missed out. This is why the Muslims are in such deep trouble.

People like IKIM must treat this matter with much urgency. There is an urgent need for the Muslims to be able to listen to different views in a civilised manner. Without violence - ie both mob violence in the streets or state sanctioned violence through arrest, jail and things like that.

If you cannot even dialogue among yourselves, nak dialog apa lagi dengan sains? Just wasting time.  There is harmony between the Quran and science. There is no harmony between"religion" and science. IKIM should understand this.

Alamak The Problem Is "U-Ni-Seksi". PPSMI Lagi !

Here is the funny news story
"ALOR SETAR - Hair salons here cannot use the word "unisex" on their business signboards as it is "a sensitive word", a city councillor said. "This has been clearly stated by the Alor Setar City Council," Chinese daily Kwong Wah Yit Poh quoted councillor Chow Hooi Pin as saying. He said that signboards with words like "hair salon" or "hair specialist" could be displayed at their premises."
In Kedah the PAS jokers have a different religion. In their version of religion male/female hairdressers CAN cut the hair of male/female clients but they dont want the word 'unisex' appearing on the shop fronts. Ha ha ha. This is the real issue. Folks, the problem is solved. Its another PPSMI related problem. They dont understand English.
They thought 'UNISEX' means 'you ni seksi'. Thats why the PAS jokers keep saying that the unisex hair salons are places that encourage 'maksiat'.  They thought you go there and tell the barbers (which is what they are - just barbers) 'you ni seksi'.
Pasal apa tak cakap awal lagi? These guys belong to the religion of PAS  - they have nothing except woman, woman, woman and sex, sex and sex on their minds. Day and night, night and day, 24/7.  I dont know why these guys just cannot get their minds off women and sex. Dah kahwin bini dua, tiga, empat and still they never get tired.  Bang, itu kopi jantan kasi kurang kaw lah. Sekali sekala minum lah air suam.
This is yet more evidence that if you keep importing English words into Malay it will not work as well. I have explained the reason for this. There is no 'infrastructure' within the Malay language to absorb so many English words. You cannot simply say 'unisex' (English) has now become 'uniseks' (Malay). You cannot go to Kedah and simply say 'uniseks' to the people there. They will not understand 'uniseks' or 'unisex'.
It is easier to teach them English. They must understand what is 'unisex' (English). Once they understand it, then it is up to them to evolve and start using 'uniseks' (in Malay) if they want to. It must evolve naturally. You cannot force it down peoples' throats.
Seks dia faham. Unisex pula dia ingat 'you ni seksi'. Tak pasal-pasal berahi dia naik :)
