Aung San Suu Kyi's True Colours Showing

Aung San Suu Kyi has sold her "soul" to the devil again. She is now accepting money from the same business cronies of the Military junta. Here is the news :

  • YANGON (Reuters) - Cronies of Myanmar's military junta which kept Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest for two decades are now donors to Suu Kyi's political party.
  • the Nobel Peace laureate's willingness to accept military-tainted funds .. jar with her international image
  • her supporters praised the move as politically shrewd and financially necessary.
  • Suu Kyi's party, the National League for Democracy accepted 211.5 million kyat (156,074 pounds) from companies owned by blacklisted businessmen who made fortunes under the military dictatorship
  • sign of how successfully cronies have repositioned themselves
  • billionaire Tay Za, described by U.S. Treasury as "a notorious regime henchman and arms dealer" donated 40 million kyat (29,344 pounds) to Suu Kyi'
  • Kyaw Win, who owns conglomerate Shwe Than Lwin and private tv station SkyNet, donated 41.5 million kyat ($50,000) in an auction of sweaters knitted by Suu Kyi,
  • SkyNet itself donated 130 million kyat ($151,430).
  • the party was "very thankful" for the donations.
  • Tay Za and other connected businessmen remain on Western blacklists
  • people mistrust them for their support of brutal regime, conspicuous wealth and domination of Myanmar's economy.
  • Suu Kyi defended her actions saying better to donate money rather than waste it.
  • "Anybody should be given a chance to mend their ways, no matter how much wrong they have done," she said.
  • her reputation already dented by criticisms that she has not stood up for victims of ethnic state-sponsored violence (Rohingyas).
  • "In politics, funding is essential to survive," said Derek Tonkin, former British ambassador.
  • Both Suu Kyi and her funders are planning for a 2015 general election
This is first class hypocrisy. Suu Kyi accepts dirty money from dirty people but she says it is ok. Listen to her statements about taking money from these cronies :
  • "Anybody should be given a chance to mend their ways, no matter how much wrong they have done," she said
  • defended her actions saying better to donate money rather than waste it
  • party was "very thankful" for the donations
  • financially necessary
Wow it is ok for the crooks to donate money to her. It is not ok for the same crooks to donate money to other people.  Surely these cronies and crooks will want something in return for all this money.

When Tay Za gave money to the military junta it was called corruption, to grease their palms. What for? So that the military junta will buy weapons from him. Now Tay Za is greasing the palms of Suu Kyi. What for? So that if Suu Kyi wins the elections she will buy baby pampers and pisang goreng from Tay Za? Not likely. Tay Za still sells guns, bullets and bombs.

SkyNet TV gave money to the military  junta so that they could get a "monopoly" tv license. Now they are giving money to Suu Kyi for what? So that the free market will flourish in Myanmar, many tv licenses will be issued and there will be free and fair competition?  Dont bullshit ok.

I think this woman Aung San Suu Kyi is now showing her true colours.

Aung San Suu Kyi also created  a huge controversy when she showed that she did not care about the ethnic cleansing against the Muslim Rohingya people in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

Here is the news :

Suu Kyi's silence on Rohingya draws rare criticism
  • BANGKOK (AP) — She is known as the voice of Myanmar's downtrodden but there is one oppressed group that Aung San Suu Kyi does not want to discuss.
  • Suu Kyi has dodged questions on the plight of the Rohingya, prompting criticism of the woman whose struggle for democracy and human rights in Myanmar have earned her a Nobel Peace Prize
  • Human rights groups have expressed disappointment
  • Rohingya — widely reviled by the Buddhist majority in Myanmar
  • sentiment against Rohingya put Suu Kyi in a no-win situation.
  • Suu Kyi now a more calculating politician
  • Speaking up for Rohingya would risk alienating Buddhist majority
  • Suu Kyi and her party trying to consolidate political gains
  • "Politically, Suu Kyi has nothing to gain from opening her mouth on this,"
  • She's a politician and her eyes are fixed on the 2015 majority Buddhist vote."
  • government targeted killings, rapes, mass arrests and torture.
  • in Geneva, Dublin and Paris, Suu Kyi dodged questions about Rohingya
  • Asked if Rohingya be granted citizenship, Suu Kyi replied: "I don't know."
  • Suu Kyi's failure to take a more principled stand.
A long time ago the ever wise Lee Kuan Yew said that it was better for Aung San Suu Kyi to stay in her house instead of interfering in Myanmar politics and messing up the reform process that had already begun in Myanmar. Lee Kuan Yew had some doubts about her

It is without a doubt that the reform process in Myanmar is a direct result of ASEAN's engagement with Myanmar, especially the massive investments in Myanmar from Singapore and Malaysia. Malaysia and Singapore have had a very large and useful influence on Myanmar over the past two decades.  Lee Kuan Yew has made many visits to Myanmar to engage and speak with the Myanmar junta. And they have very high regard and respect for Lee Kuan Yew. All this has added up to make Myanmar reform and join the society of nations.

Aung San Suu Kyi on the other hand is undergoing a metamorphosis. And it is not a beautiful butterfly emerging from an ugly caterpillar. It looks like a white swan is turning into a hungry Burmese tiger. Lets see what happens in 2015.

ASEAN is built on the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of its member states. Just because Aung Sang Suu Kyi does not actively deal with the Rohingya Pendatang Tanpa Izin does not make her a hypocrite or bad person as implied by your article. Just like many countries in the world with illegal immigrant problems each solution is unique to that country or so you claimed in the giving of citizenship to illegal Indons and Filipinos in Sabah. Be careful in wanting Suu Kyi to be compliant with your view on what is needed as a solution to the Rohingya problem. Bear in mind that Sabah and Sarawak can be easily cut off from the Peninsula as they are 400km across the South China sea. If one ASEAN member can interfere in the internal affairs of another ASEAN member, doesn't this right also justify the interference of a non-ASEAN member to in the South China Sea territorial disputes? The days when ASEAN could pit a major power against another to check the aggressive influence of certain major powers in Southeast Asia is over. How many people seriously think that a country like the US which openly admits it is printing vast quantity of USD without a debt ceiling or Japan with a 200% debt to GDP ratio are in any position to check the unwanted rising influence of other major powers in our region.

ANUwar transformation is more radical than his counterpart in Myanmar, from brader-to-power abuse-to-convict-to-peliwat-to-adultery-to-anarchist-to-traitor etc

The Burmese military junta is not good but I'm concerned by the support Aung San Suu Kyi and her National League for Democracy party receives from Soros-backed NGOs and western imperialist political representatives such as Hillary Clinton.

Burma or Myanmar is rich in resources and is an untapped market for western interests, so what will the imperialists get if her party wins.

Sure, most Burmese people besides the Rohingya will have democracy, free speech, free press, human rights, etc but will they have decent paying jobs, healthcare, education, etc?

Will the economy be in Burmese hands or will they merely be workers in an economy largely owned by western imperialist interests?

As for cronies, well just look at a certain Pakatan-run state in the north of Peninsular Malaysia where the state government is cozy with the capitalist property developers, while property prices have risen above what average citizens can afford.

If Pakatan wins Putrajaya, expect to see lots of former BN cronies jumping ship to back the new government.

While I'm not an Anarchist, they have a saying which rings very true - i.e. "Whoever you voted for, the government won."

Western style democracy based on party politics lets people choose who rules over them but not what their rulers do.

For example, if people in the U.S. had a real say over how their country was run, the U.S. government would not bail out the banks, the U.S. military would have been out of Iraq and Afghanistan a long time ago, the real culprits behind the 9/11 attacks would have been put on trial and some even executed, outsourcing would be greatly cut back and work brought home, banking regulations such as the Glass Steagal act would be re-instated and much more.

It's the same story in other western-style "democracies" worldwide. The people don't really have a say over how they are governed but have the freedom to choose who governs them.

MYANMAR: FERTILE GROUND FOR WASHINGTON SPONSORED REVOLUTION -
http://nilebowie.blogspot.com/2011/07/myanmar-fertile-ground-for-washington.html

“For decades British Intelligence agents have underhandedly posed as “cultural anthropologists” charged with gathering Intel on local tribal leaders, warring ethnic factions and clan disputes in order to create in-depth profiles to be used later in destabilization schemes.

The late Michael Aris (British husband of Aung San Suu Kyi) fits this academic/agent profile, masquerading as an innocuous scholar while in reality helping to foment unrest in Tibet and creating ‘independence movement’ schemes.

Aris was in fact, originally recruited by Hugh Richardson, the Dalai Lama’s former British handler. Suu Kyi has recently taken part in the 2011 Reith Lectures, literally speaking alongside with the former MI5 Director General Baroness Manningham-Buller, championing the BBC and speaking to the world about the sad state of being in ‘unfreedom’. Some may find it curious that Suu Kyi is never critical of the countries backing her movement, places where oligarchical corporate lobbying has destroyed any vestige of ‘democracy’....”

Aung San Suu Kyi's struggle commemorated with honorary Oxford degree - http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jun/20/oxford-aung-san-suu-kyi-honorary-degree

"She was one of eight honorands, including Baroness Manningham-Butler, former head of MI5, and the thriller writer John le CarrĂ© – whose books, the Burmese opposition leader revealed, had sustained her during periods of house arrest..."

Another "Puppet" of the New World Order.

You be the judge.

Cheers.

read a burmese comment from youtube last year:-

she is another "white wannabe & western investment gate". as their people have limited knowledge & activities..revolt is the best way for gaining attention..

our case:
similar to Nuar Brahim in many ways, only this woman is more polite & humane (animal with Kachin & Rohingya). other than that: revolt maker, seek western attention for living/luxury fund & protection..naik Jet (mis a billion dollar profit deal?).& Masalah Rakyat diperalatkan untuk kepentingan peribadi..More: Chinpeng become hero, Allah for sale, tanah pertanian adat for DAP lawyer..that Nuar PM wannabe

conclusion:
their (Nuar & Sukyi) true color..revolt maker & Western fund seeker

Never trusted her coz I never like people who play with people's sentiments.. Buat muka sedih sana sini..

Myanmar needs a strong, smart and honest leader. What qualifications does ASSK has? Can she manage a county? Or pandai cakap aje.. jaja cerita sedih sana sini to get support. I hope the people of Myanmar choose wisely.

But as you rightly said, only time can tell whether she is Anugerah Tuhan or a Bala to Myanmar. For Myanmar peoples sake.. I hope it is the former..

Dear Vinnan,

IMO, it's not the issue of interference of lack thereof. It's about basic human rights.

I already predicted when this Lady do nothing better than the regime in their response to the minority of Burma's Rohingya people.

Sometimes woman can be as cruel as their opposite gender.

Vinan,
The Rohingyas had been living in Arakan for hundred of years. Well before it was ceded to the British under the treaty of Yandabo. Obviously they are not PATI in Myanmar but have the right to a citizenship like the other Myanmarese. Obviously they have better right to a citizenship to a country that they have been living for generations than your great grandfather who just came to Tanah Melayu after been brought by the British.

I have looked at a bit of Rohingya history and this is what I found on Wikipedia.

"The Rohingya, though they are native to Myanmar, are ethno-linguistically related to the Indo-Aryan peoples of India and Bangladesh (as opposed to the Sino-Tibetan people Myanmar). The region of Rakhine (Arakan) was annexed and occupied by Myanmar in the 1700s (actually 1785), thus bringing the Rohingya people under Burmese occupation."

This raises two possible positions which ultimately depend on what the Rohingya people themselves want.

1. If they want to be an independent country, they have every right to be granted independence, based upon the fact that they were forcibly annexed by Burma/Myanmar.

2. If they choose to remain a part of Burma/Myanmar, then the Rohingya are Burma/Myanmar nationals with rights to equal treatment and freedom from persecution.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rohingya_people

It appears that Aung San Suu Kyi's weak defence of the Rohingya is due to her pandering to the racial/tribal chauvanism of the Sino-Tibetan majority versus the Indo-Aryan Rohingya minority.

I'm part Thai and I know for a fact that such chauvanism exists between people of the central region and north-eastern region and to a lesser extent between people of the central region and those of the southern region.

Also that there does exist a rather subtle hostility between some ethnic Thais against the ethnic Chinese in Thailand, even though their common Buddhist religion and inter-marriage has somewhat mitigated this but still, some make a distinction between Thais with "double-fold eyelids" and "single-fold eyelids."

This is also reflected in Thaksin's greater popularity in the north & north east and the Democrat Party's greater popularity in the south and west.

Similar tribal/ethbic chauvanism exists in Burma/Myanmar, and let's not deny it but in Malaysia too.

Nuar , Habibie and Suu Kyi are both ASEAN darlings of the Global Evangelists...

Question? if Nuar and Suu Kyi elected to lead Malaysia and Burma respectively..
like Habibie who allowed Timor Timor to break way into Christian Fiefdom of Timor Leste, will Suu Kyi allow Karen Christians region to become break away christian fiefdom and will Nuar allow Sabah to break away into Christian fiefdom...

Your comments section has been hijacked by half-baked bigoted UMNO bloggers who are trying to make the connection with Suu Kyi=Pakatan. If Malaysia's influence in Burma is so great, why doesn't Wisma Putra put out a strongly worded objection to the Rohingya problem ? Perhaps get UMNO cyber troopers to demonstrate in front of their embassy. Oh wait..err..we're using our influence behind the scenes, right ? So why can't Suu Kyi handle it her way ?
