BREAKING NEWS: SYRIA ISRAEL PEACE PACT

  • SEPTEMBER 18, 2025
  • Israeli-Syrian security pact expected to be signed by end 2025 - report
  • "progress in talks", “end of the year” to sign agreements
  • security and military agreements by end 2025
  • agreement would include “a corridor to fly to Iran"
  • Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said Security pact is 'necessary'
  • negotiations could yield results “in the coming days”
  • Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani arrive in Washington Thurs
  • first Syrian foreign minister to visit Washington in 25 years
  • What does pact entail?
  • between Israel and Syria demilitarized zone
  • Israel to remain at strategic locations including Mount Hermon
  • included map from Damascus southwest up to border with Israel
  • areas southwest of Damascus split into three different zones.
  • extend current buffer zone on Syrian side by 2 kilometers
  • whole southwest of Damascus to Israel no-fly zone for Syria
  • key part of proposal is aerial corridor to Iran through Syria

My Comments: The new Syrian "president" who is a Sunni is president only around Damascus. He has little or no power through much of Syria. This 'pact' does not mention the Druze - who will likely be getting their own autonomous region right beside the Israeli border. The Druze want to be part of Israel.  The Druze are not Muslim at all.

The pact also does not mention the Kurdish people. The Kurds too will have their own areas - and not under the Syrian "president".  The Kurds are Sunni Muslim but they are not Arabs.

It looks like Syria is being broken up into three parts - according to race and religion.  Ahmad Sharaa gets to play-play as president in Damascus.

If they can stop fighting with each other it would be good. But they have not stopped fighting among themselves for the past 1,000 years.
