The situation is getting more critical inside the Iranian regime. The IRGC has effectively carried out a coup de etat not only against the ayatollahs (there is not a single mullah or ayatollah who makes statements on behalf of the Iranian regime anymore) but in the latest iteration the IRGC has carried out a coup against Pezeshkian the president of Iran, Aragchi the foreign minister and Qalibaf the speaker of the Parliament (picture above). All three have not been seen in public for some time now, possibly under house arrest.
Rumours about their fates vary from being under house arrest to being forced to resign. One confirmed resignation is that of Qalibaf the former Speaker of the Iranian Parliament who was head of the delegation negotiating for a ceasefire with the Americans in Islamabad. The ORGC did not like his negotiating stance and got him fired.
Extreme left Pezeshkian (president), middle Qalibaf (fired as Speaker of Parliament), right Arragchi the Minister of Foreign Affairs. All three have not been seen in public for some time now, possibly under house arrest.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps or IRGC is firming up its grip on Iran. These are really bloodthirsty whack jobs.
They firmly believe that Imam Ali is still "alive" (He died 1,400 years ago). They believe with absolute certainty that the 12th Shia Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi is in "occultation" or suspended animation in a cave somewhere near the Al Askari Shrine near Samarra in Iraq. (He died about 1,200 years ago).
Below here is the newest leader of the IRGC. Dont know his name. Unpronounceable anyway. These are absolute nutters. They are also getting their butts kicked. Their Navy has been obliterated. Anyone who thinks that a motorboat with no roof and powered by outboard motors can make up a naval fleet is obviously a moron. Their airforce never existed in the first place. They have been blown out of the sky.
The IRGC bought a second hand 42,000 ton container ship, stripped the deck and laid steel plates to create an "aircraft" carrier (Shahid Bagheri) with a curved runway (yes vertically curved, S shaped runway) to launch drones. Two pictures below. The ayatollahs actually said that this renovated 2nd hand junk would wipe out the entire US Navy. I kid you not - they really said that to the Iranian people.
The 2nd hand container ship was not military grade at all - no weapons grade steel was used, no high speed combat endurance engine (top speed 20 knots not sustainable), almost zero air defenses, minimal anti aircraft missiles, no anti submarine defenses, not effective radar. The ship was a joke - just to show off to the Iranian villagers that the ayatollah had made Iran into a world power.
So what happened? In the first days of the war (possibly on the 1st day of the war on Feb 28, 2026) the US sank the ship initially with one 2,000 bunker buster bomb. Plus a few other strikes. Here is video of the ship being sunk. You can see the Iranian ship was absolutely defenceless.
This toy, make believe 2nd hand container ship renovated into a drone cum aircraft carrier that could "sink" the entire US Navy must have had a crew of a few hundred sailors and officers. Watch that video again - that initial strike by a 2000 pound bunker buster bomb hit that ship square in the center. Then the ship caught fire, broke up and sank very soon after. The sailors lives were simply sacrificed - they had no chance of survival because this was NOT a naval warfare vessel. The hundreds of sailors lives were sacrificed - for the ayatollahs stupid ego.
It was a 2nd hand container ship with steel plates laid on top to give it the appearance of an aircraft carrier. It could not carry out any real offensive operations and it certainly could not defend itself in a combat situation. It was designed for show only. Hundreds of their sailors died. The ayatollahs do not care.
