Another public holiday - I just found out yesterday. The past few weeks we have had few, full five working day weeks. There has been some holiday or other that pops up, disrupting production, delivery schedules, adding overtime costs, adding logistics costs, adding storage costs. Everytime somebody wants to stay at home and not go to work, someone else has to pay for it. That someone is YOU. YOU pay for your own laziness. Malas has consequences. Malas costs money. Malas keeps you poor.
And MALAS BEKERJA has a distinct voter profile. And the politicians are aware of this. So the politicians (a substantial number of them) think the more public holidays, the more votes for them.
That is how you become poorer. Malas bekerja tapi gaji jalan pula. Prices will go up - to cover the higher costs (gaji jalan tapi tak mahu kerja). The whole country ends up getting poorer.
In the end the politicians lose the votes. because the people keep asking 'How come our lives are getting more difficult?'
