Russia has pointed out that Vlodymir Zelenskiye is not the legitimate president of Ukraine anymore. His legal term as president ended last year and Russia says it cannot negotiate anything with a person who is no more an elected president of the Ukraine.
This is a legal point because without being elected there is no legal president of the Ukraine. The Ukrainian constitution has no provisions for extending the term of a president without an election. The United States has accepted this legal point and President Trump has said that Ukraine should have elections as soon as possible to elect a president.
Russia in turn has suggested their agreement to a ceasefire if the Ukraine holds elections. Plus Russia does not want to see Zelenskiye running for president again.
The British are extremely upset and disagreeable with this situation. The British have now said they are ready to send their Royal Air Force for active duty in Ukraine. The British are really quite mad. They do not stand a chance against Russia. They might try to assassinate President Trump again.
