MY COMMENTS:
I hope this will hasten a ceasefire and peace agreement in Ukraine. Because the British have been the biggest obstacles and schemers behind the war in Ukraine.
A few days ago the G7 nations held another summit in France. Nothing came out of the meeting. They were supposed to appoint a mediator to mediate the Ukraine war (the G7?) but they could not agree. So nothing happened.
During the G7 meeting (close to its end) there was a drone attack against a refinery in Moscow. It was a petrochemical facility so there was black smoke. The western media immediately began crowing that Moscow had been destroyed and that Russia had lost the war.

The damage was minor and the refinery resumed operations within hours.
But the more relevant news was a formal decision by the Russian government that Russia will not pursue anymore diplomacy to end the war in Ukraine. Russia will now conclude the war on the battlefield.
The war in Ukraine has thus far been a war of attrition. The Russians send small teams of soldiers to penetrate and flush out Ukrainian forces. There have not been World War Two style mass attacks by columns of tanks or massed artillery fire. Mr Putin has said that if Russia resorted to massed artillery fire Ukraine will not exist anymore.
The Russian summer offensive has captured or almost fully captured Lyman, Zaporizhzhia, Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Kostiantynivka, Slovyansk, Kramatorsk, Orikhiv & Stepnohirsk. Ukraine war pundits have tracked geo-locations of Russian and Ukrainian forces in these cities and towns. The Russians are advancing everywhere. The Ukrainians are retreating everywhere.
It will be totally embarrassing for a new British prime minister to walk into office just to see Ukraine get creamed on the battle field. It wont be a good start in the office.
