The MOP (Massive Ordinance Penetrator) or GBU57 'bunker buster' bomb that was dropped on Iran this morning costs around US$3.5 million each. The bomb can penetrate 200 feet (60 meters) of hardened concrete before exploding. It can possibly penetrate deeper through regular soil.
Reports say that SIX of these bombs were dropped by the Americans on Fordow. Only two bombs are sufficient to destroy the nuclear installations below ground but they dropped SIX of them. Maybe they wanted to avoid having to come back again in the future. Some reports say that cruise missiles were also fired into Iran from the sea this morning, possibly from submarines or surface ships.
One B2 Stealth bomber can carry two of these 14+ metric tonne bombs (30,000 lbs). So THREE B2 Spirit bombers must have attacked Fordow. It is likely that the other sites in Natanz and Isfahan were hit by two bombs each - requiring just one B2 bomber each (making a total of FIVE B2 bombers for this operation).
The B2s likely flew from Diego Garcia where it was reported on April 2, 2025 that SIX B2 Stealth bombers had flown into the airbase there.
Wed April 2, 2025. US moves B-2 stealth bombers to Indian Ocean island in massive show of force to Houthis, Iran. The Pentagon has sent at least six B-2 bombers – 30% of the US Air Force’s stealth bomber fleet – to the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia, in what analysts have called a message to Iran as tensions once again flare in the Middle East.
This means that the decision for the United States to bomb Iran had already been made before April 2, 2025. Long before Israel even attacked Iran on June 13th 2025. The whole thing had been planned.
Here is a quick video about the 30,000 lb bunker buster bomb.
