"Bila hilang deposit tak boleh jadi PM".
There is your answer. When you lose your deposit you cannot be anything. And there is no provision in the Federal Constitution for 'Senators' to become prime ministers. (That's a joke ok).
Kepada semua cyber-trooper PN ini tagline baru, sila sebarkan: "Bila hilang deposit tak boleh jadi PM". Atau 'When you lose your deposit you cannot be PM'.
He could not go back to their "traditional" seat in Pulau Pinang. In the 2022 even the Daughter lost that seat to an unknown challenger from Pas. About 40 years of their political history in Pulau Pinang just came crashing down. The people do not like them.
He had to move from PD - obviously because he could not defend his seat there.
They sent him to Ipoh Timur which has a large Chinese voter roll. Then those Chinese ginger farmers got kicked out of their land. Now he cannot defend that seat in Ipoh.
So they are looking for another seat with a bigger Chinese voter base. Unfortunately Beijing is not a Parliamentary seat in Malaysia. So how about Seputeh? YB Theresa Kok, its time for you to retire.
Sudah minum pagi kah? Lets read some tea leaves. Here are the results of the 15th General Elections held on 19th November 2022. These are Parliamentary seats won by the various parties:
PH 81, PN 74, BN 30, GPS Swak 22, GRS Sabah 6, Warisan 3, Indep 2, PBM 1
It adds up to 219 only - I believe there were some Independents (3?)
Now look at this small tabulation for the 2018 and 2022 elections:
Pakatan Harapan Perikatan Nasional Barisan Nasional
2018 election 100 seats 32 seats 58 seats
2022 elections 81 seats 74 seats 30 seats
Seat change Decrease 18 Increase 42 Decrease 28
As you can see from 2018 to 2022, BOTH Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional lost a huge number of seats. Together the PH and BN lost 46 SEATS !! (PH lost 18 and BN lost 28 seats).
So who WON those 46 seats? PN of course. As you can see the seats won by the PN increased by 42 from 32 in 2018 to 74 seats in 2022. Increased by 2.31 times.
But here is the real crunch. PN won 74 Parliamentary seats. That was only SEVEN seats less than PH. Answer this question honestly - do you seriously think the PH can defend all those 81 seats they won in 2022? The answer is a flat NO.
Their coalition partner is BN - where UMNO won 26 seats. Folks, answer this question honestly - do you seriously think UMNO can retain those 26 seats? The answer is another flat NO. I doubt this time around UMNO can even win 20 seats.
In 2022 PKR won 31 seats. Do you honestly think PKR can defend all these 31 seats? The answer is another flat NO.
Then in 2023 there was the State elections in SIX states Kedah, Negeri, Kelantan, Penang, Selangor and Terengganu.
SIX STATE ELECTIONS 2023
Kedah PH+BN = 3
PN 33
Total 36
Negeri SEMBILAN
PH + BN 31
PN 5
Total 36
SELANGOR
PH+BN 34
PN 22
TOTAL 56
KELANTAN 45
PH + BN 2
PN 43
PENANG 40
PH + BN 29
PN 11
TERENGGANU 32
PH + BN 0
PN 32
In Terengganu the PH was shut out - they won 0 seats in a 32 seat State assembly.
In Kedah the PH won only 3 out of 36 State seats. Also wiped out.
In Selangor the PN won 22 out of 56 State seats. PH won 34 seats - a winning margin of 12 seats only. The next round, the PN will possibly win Selangor. The PN only needs a swing of SEVEN seats and they will form the government in Selangor.
Now this is without discussing Sarawak and Sabah. In November 2022 Sarawak and Sabah joined the PH coalition AFTER the Agong had already appointed the government.
In the next General Elections in 2027 the Perikatan Nasional will win - EVEN BEFORE taking Sarawak and Sabah into consideration. Sarawak and Sabah will likely join the winners.
Back to the real question: Can he lose his deposit? Looking at that 200,000 x 10 crowd last Saturday there is a very strong possibility of that happening.
