Hi folks. I have been missing in action for a few days. Been doing great things as usual. Sometimes you release a balloon sometimes you release a torpedo. Lets see what the cat drags in on the morrow.
(By the way oil and gas people say that the country is facing gas supply problems. Hence that RM15 billion per annum gas purchase from the Yanks).
Here is a map of Alaska and Russia.
Ok it has been made official. Next Friday August 15th 2025 President Donald Trump and President Putin will have a summit meeting in Alaska. One would assume that the meeting will take place in Anchorage (the state capital) or maybe it will happen at the old fish cannery in Portlock aka Port Chatham. Sasquatch country.
Why is President Trump in a hurry to meet Mr Putin now? As you are reading this, the situation on the ground is getting critical for Ukraine. In my previous post I said that the Russian general Staff have released an unprecedented written statement that the Ukrainian Army will collapse in 90 days (from when they released the statement).
The Russians are advancing on all fronts and the Ukrainian Army is being pulverised. They suffered over 6,500 casualties last week. If Mr Trump does not get a ceasefire deal soonest, there will not be a Ukraine left in 90 days.
President
Trump agreeing to meet Mr Putin also signals a crack between the US
and NATO, especially between the US and the recalcitrant duo of Britain
and France. Plus the German Reichs-Kanzelor Merz Quisling. Britain, France and Ursula Van Der Lyin are willing to continue the Ukraine war until the last Ukrainian soldier is killed. The Ukraine war could end faster if British PM Keir Starmer's Ukrainian boyfriends are sent to the frontlines. Instead of setting fire to the British PM's house and cars in London.
Likely scenarios for a peace agreement / ceasefire in Ukraine could include the following:
1. Ukraine must withdraw any of its remaining forces in the entire Donbas (Lughansk, Zaphorizhia, Kherson, Donetsk).
2. Ukraine must announce officially that they will not join Nato. The US will be required to guarantee this statement.
3. After 1 and 2 have been achieved, Russia will declare a ceasefire but still hold its positions at the time of the ceasefire.
4. And then after that Russia will move on to the next step - enter peace negotiations with Ukraine. The issue of the legitimacy of any Ukraine peace delegation is a major problem. Russia says that according to the Ukraine Constitution the legitimate government in Ukraine has ceased to exist since they cancelled the general elections.
I believe Russia will also secure the US as a guarantor of the ceasefire as well as of the terms of any peace agreement. Meaning the US must provide security guarantees to Russia that Ukraine will not go back on their promises - they cannot join Nato, they cannot attack or kill Russian speaking communities inside Ukraine (which started the war in the first place), they cannot ban the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, or ban the use of the Russian language by Russian speaking communities inside Ukraine, Russian schools etc.
I think Russia's condition for a ceasefire (1, 2 and 3 above) will also require guarantees by the US that the Americans and NATO will not support Ukraine by way of weapons, materials and money to continue the war. No more American and NATO involvement in Ukraine.
And any breach of the ceasefire by Ukraine or their breaching of any peace agreement will trigger complete American and NATO withdrawal from Ukraine as well.
Then there will be other 'riders'. The economic sanctions against Russia must be removed. Russian gas must flow freely again. All trade between Russia and the West will resume. Billions of US Dollars of Russian assets frozen in Western banks must be released.
There is a suggestion that Mr Trump and Mr Putin will announce multi billion US Dollar investment projects in Russia and the USA. Including developing the Russian Arctic Maritime Corridor from Siberia to Europe (to Scandinavia) and the Siberia US East Coast corridor (over the top of Canada).
President Trump is not known as a sneaky character. An extremely practical man fixated on achieving his objective - peace in Ukraine. Mr Putin speaks straight and to the point. His greatest strength is Russia itself.
Lets see what happens.
