My Comments:
Turkey built those dams in Afghanistan that are now stopping the Helmand River from flowing into Iran. Sunni Turkey has long been a rival of Shia Iran.
Today the whole world is aware of the wars and fighting between the Sunnis and Shias in the Middle East. But the historical fact is that there were no Sunni-Shia wars and fighting before the rivalry between Shia Persia (the Safavid Dynasty) and the Sunni Ottoman Turks of the 16th to 18th centuries.
"The primary Persian empire opposed to the Ottoman Empire was the Safavid dynasty, which fought numerous wars with the Ottomans from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Other Persian empires and dynasties, including the Afsharid, Zand and Qajar dynasties, also engaged in conflict with the Ottomans during different periods through the 19th century. These conflicts were driven by territorial disputes, religious differences between Sunni and Shia Islam.
The Shia-Sunni conflict around the whole world actually began with the Ottoman (Turks) and the Persian Saffavids rivalry in the 16th century. The crows that they released have now come home to roost
The Afghan Taliban are the most rabid Sunni attack dogs on planet earth. They really do not like the Shia people in Iran. Obviously Turkey wants to help the Afghan Taliban choke off the river water to Iran. The Ayatollahs are in deep shit.
Conclusion:
The blue line is approximately the flow of the Helmand River from Afghanistan into Iran.
