In the Sahara region of Africa there is a huge country called Mali. They have been suffering from the full set of 'diseases' that inflict most Islamic countries - incompetent leadership, corruption, no or low moral values, a society that does not care about anything, jihadis around every corner, psycho preachers in every mosque. Well maybe another new chapter of disaster is opening up in Mali. Al Qaeda is about to take over the country. Here be some news:
Al Qaeda militants are moving closer to seizing the capital of the West African nation of Mali, which, should the city fall, would become the first country in the world run by the U.S.-designated terrorist group.
The rapid advance of the jihadists in Africa comes after Islamist groups took power in both Afghanistan and Syria, but, if they take Bamako, it would be the first time militants with direct and current connections to al Qaeda achieve such a feat.
Well lets just say goodbye to Mali. Here is the other issue. The US under Donald Trump may not be interested in Mali. The French Foreign Legion have had their butts kicked in Mali. I believe they lost some men. So did the US Africa Command. Plus there is no oil in Mali. I doubt the Russians will care too much about Mali either. The Chinese will be ready to build bridges and railways for them anyway. So the people (its always the people) of Mali are going to suffer. This is what will happen if you do not keep religion in check.

There are too many jihadi hotspots in Africa. Keep an eye on Nigeria, Chad and Niger. Burkina Faso seems to be a bright spot - under Ibrahim Traore.
When there was fighting in Afghanistan jihadists from all over the world travelled to Afghanistan, including from Malaysia to fight in their jihad. The same thing happened in Syria, Iraq and before that in Chechnya. So will the jihadis travel to Africa to fight in the jihad there? I dont think so. Wrong colour.
