A major event has happened in the UK. Yesterday Friday May 8, 2026 the UK had their local council elections (town council, city council, district council etc). Over 5,000 council seats in 36 councils.
Nigel Farage's Reform UK Party has swept 1,443 seats, almost 30% of all the seats. They have also captured 12 councils.
The big loser was Labour Party (Keir Starmer) who were wiped out in 1,200 seats and are now down to 959 council seats.
NIGEL FARAGE, LEADER OF THE REFORM PARTY
AND THE NEXT PRIME MINISTER OF UK
5,000 council seats up for election across 136 councils in England
Labour lost more than 1,200 English council seats
Reform made massive gains for the second year running.
Keir Starmer disastrous local election results for Labour
Nigel Farage hailed “big historic night” after Reform UK made major gains
Reform UK gained over 1,200 council seats and 12 councils
Labour lost 30 councils
Labour (Starmer) lost Wales after 27 years in power
MY COMMENTS:
These local council elections were held across the country and all on one day. Hence they captured the mood of the voters throughout the UK.
This is also significant because the long standing two-party system in UK (Labour versus Conservatives) has effectively come to an end. A third party Reform UK is now dominating British politics. Not to be left out the Liberal Democratic Party and the Green Party are also making inroads.
This is the end of the disastrous Keir Starmer. It is doubtful if he can last longer than June (next month). It will be better for the UK to call for a snap general election and choose a new government.
