INDIANS DESERTING MGR - MY SUGGESTION ON HOW INDIANS CAN BE DIVIDED AND UNITED AT THE SAME TIME

I received the following from a friend. I have adapted it slightly.

  • I seem to be coming across more articles in recent weeks which hint at Indian unhappiness with the MGR system as a whole
  • There is palpable anger among the Indians against MGR -interesting to see how it pans out in next GE.
  • My info is that there is a mass exodus of Indians from MGR's party. As you know, at one time Indians formed the biggest single group in that party.

MY COMMENTS:

Ok Indians are so divided. I have an idea to unite the Indians yet they can still remain divided.

There are Indian Tamils, Ceylon Tamils, Tamil Muslims, non-Tamil Indians, Hindraf Indians, etc etc. They cannot always get along. Fine. So be it.

But they all face the same issues. Everyone needs equal opportunities to pursue an education, to pursue economic opportunities and to pursue whatever happiness that suits you. Regardless of what Indian you are (that divides you) these are the same issues that are common to everyone.

So harp on these issues. Ingat baik-baik : harp on the issues.

How come so few Indians speak up against the Sedition Act? Some Indian lawyers (like Ambiga Sreenivasan) and NGO Indians have spoken up against the Sedition Act. But generally the Sedition Act is not a topic of conversation among most Indians. Why not? Tak faham ke what the Sedition Act is all about?

Harp on issues. They affect all of us.

How many Indians have organised any seminar, town hall discussion, any public discourse against the insane and exhorbitant prices of cars in the country? Or the entire, screwed up automotive sector in this country? Why not? Tak faham ke what is going on?

Have any Indian politicians made an issue of the insane and stupid automotive regulations in this country? Why not? Tak faham ke what is going on?

Paying crazy prices for your car, paying for maintenance, paying the tolls impoverishes more Indians across the board.

How many Indians have helped Mr Waythamoorthy fight for the Orang Asli rights? How many Indians have helped Siti Kassim fight for the Orang Asli rights?  Why not? They are minorities too. Minorities must stick together on issues of common interest.

You can be divided on other matters. But stand united on common issues. Stand united on the real bread and butter issues that are common to all of us.
