THE MINIMUM WAGE DISASTER: UNEMPLOYMENT, INFLATION

  • minimum wage RM 2000 from July 2027
  • to boost household income and domestic demand
  • create high income economy

  • Minimum Wage up 88.9% from RM900 in 2013 to RM1,700 in 2025
  • they target Minimum Wage of  RM3,000 by 2030
  • MTUC wants Minimum Wage of RM3,100

My Comments: They have low IQ, they do not understand business, economics or finance. They think simply waving a magic wand and saying Kun Pa Yakun (Be and it is) will magically make things better.

Here is the most important bit of information:   Minimum Wage up 88.9% from RM900 in 2013 to RM1,700 in 2025

In 12 years the Minimum Wage increased almost 90%.

This has imposed higher costs for businesses especially start up businesses. They will close shop, fire workers or not hire as many workers. Unemployment will increase.

And inflation will certainly go up.  In 12 years the Minimum Wage has gone up by almost 90%. The question is has that been sufficient? The answer is no.

When the Minimum Wage goes up more price inflation will be 'manufactured'.  Wage earners will still find it difficult to make ends meet. Like a cat chasing its own tail - it will never end. This means there will be pressure to keep increasing the Minimum Wages.

Meaning more businesses will close down because they cannot afford higher and higher Minimum Wages. Which is what is happening in our country. So the unemployment will increase.

But they will rebrand the unemployed as the gig economy. There are now 3.0 million people in the gig economy. What this means is that there are an extra 3.0 million unemployed.

Just send back the Rohingyas, the Myanmars, the Banglas, the Nepalis, the Pakistanis. That is a few million already. They are taking jobs away from the locals.

Switch the education system back to English - or at least for science and mathematics. Switch to English like the sekolah asrama penuh, the international schools etc.

We must create an economy that has higher productivity, automation and higher value added. Then the wages will increase because of higher productivity.
