My Comments:
The most telling and saddest part of this disaster is this line :fled her home a decade ago
So for at least 10 years these folks have been shuffling around the place, crapping in the sand, living off handouts, no permanent homes, giving birth to kids while on the run. And this is in the 21st century.
The 21st century does not make any difference to them - they might as well be in the 11th century. Nothing much has changed for them. Tribal hatreds, religious differences, religious hatreds are the only things that have kept them going - right over the cliff.
THEY JUST ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO HIGHLIGHT THEIR DIFFERENCES AMONG THEM. WHY? Because that is the only 'comfort zone' that they have. The thing that keeps them going - the so many hatreds they have never been able to overcome. And the freshest manure sitting right on top of the dung heap are their religious hatreds.
Do recall this:
Lawrence of Arabia says, "so long as the Arabs fight tribe against tribe, so long they will be a little people, a silly people, greedy, barbarous and cruel". Nigeria is populated by Africans. But the script still applies.
It gets sadder doesnt it? This is just a movie script - but it is so exactly true. And more sadness - this movie was made in 1962. 63 years ago. Nothing has changed in that part of the world.
So who would you like to hate today?
