India China Thaw

  • India announce agreement with China to end standoff at Ladakh region
  • pave way for normalization of relations between two neighbors
  • bring back Chinese investments in Indian economy
  • Announced Oct 21 just in time for Modi and Jinping meeting, first in five years

My Comments :

This thaw between China and India is also the result of two other events. Modi got mauled at the Indian elections in June this year where his BJP party lost 60 parliamentary seats (out of 543) and lost the biggest state of Uttar Pradesh. So on the home front Modi has been weakened.

Then the BRICs summits force India to meet China and Russia as partners to manage the affairs of the BRICs. It would be quite ridiculous if two of the founding partners cannot get their act together over Himalayan territory that is better suited for the Abominable Snowman.

Do you see any houses here? Can you spot the Yeti (Abominable Snowman)?

Despite all the hot air India-China trade runs at over US$150 Billion a year, much of it from China to India.

India seriously needs to become part of China's One Belt One Road initiative. If China can build a string of ports around India and build train links (more than one) going from China into India the trade and investment into India will run into the trillions of US Dollars.

Imagine closely linking the potential energies and markets of almost THREE BILLION human beings. Why cant these people think like me :)

Anyway Modi is trying to salvage his image by building up his profile in foreign relations. So far that too has been below par. Modi visited Ukraine to try and negotiate peace between Ukraine and Russia. As expected that did not work out. He kept mispronouncing Zelenskiye's name (Janaki?). In 2020 Modi addressed Donald Trump as 'Dolan Trump'.

Modi should have far better prospects with China. It can be a done deal.
The Bay of Bengal and the Straits of Melaka will also be free of imaginary tensions.
