My Comments:
For many years international terrorists used Malaysia for their terrorist activities. Of course the dunggus at that time tried to deny it. One super m*r*n IGP at that time tried to play with words - Malaysia is not a terror base, they are transiting, passing through bla bla. Too late because many of these terrorists were indeed arrested here, some were deported from here, and some went on to plan and execute terror attacks in other countries where they were also caught and sent to jail. Now we see Malaysia has obviously become a place of activity (to preempt any stupid word play rebuttals) for the drug smugglers, cartels or whoever.

This smuggling drugs in shoes seems to be the modus operandi of whichever drug smuggling ring that is behind this. Now there are two cases (Tokyo and Jakarta) where they were caught with drugs inside their shoes.
The other case involved the Malaysian pilot smuggling 25 kg of ecstasy pills.
Obviously these drugs were not for their own consumption. These people were drug mules. Paid a few thousand Ringgit each to carry these drugs. Meaning there are drug cartels or drug smuggling rings behind each of these cases.
In the story about the terrorists (see the Hoover Institution link above) the article says:

Lax security, doesnt require visas from Gulf States, refuge for exiles.
What it means is the tidak apa attitude.
The kampong fellows attitude.
Or there was corruption involved.
Or more likely both.
Sadly this attitude still prevails. Otherwise there cannot be these drug arrests in Tokyo and Jakarta. The drugs are walking through our airport security controls like taking a walk in the park.
The country is steadily breaking down. Now these drug cartels are jeopardising the image of ALL Malaysians travelling overseas. For an absolute certainty Malaysian travellers will now be subject to more scrutiny when we travel overseas.
I recall after the 9-11 crap I was 'pulled over' for random checks at a western airport. Because of a few bearded monkeys the rest of the world had to suffer so much inconvenience.
