Restraint,
the lesson of Ramadhan
never to be forgotten,
All else comes only with restraint,
that we practice in its entirety,
With which I wish that we may have a good month of restraint,
Restraint from the words that hurt,
And the hands that injure,
And the feet that stray,
And the indulgence that disfigures,
And the sight that impairs,
And the thoughts that are malevolent,
And the intentions that are malicious,
From all actions that are ill willed,
We ask that when this month leaves us,
The restraint may continue,
Etched into our body and soul.
I wish you Ramadhan Kareem,
For Allah is much more generous.
