A few weeks back I posted a story that the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas were engaged in fierce fighting in the town of Jenin in the West Bank. Palestinians are killing Palestinians. The fighting is still continuing and this news is an update.
Ok to understand this story let me define the characters involved.
PA refers to the Palestinian Authority led by Mahmoud Abbas. The PA rules the West Bank. The PA is also known as the Fatah which is also known as the PLO or the Palestine Liberation Organisation whose most famous leader was Yasser Arafat. Yasser Arafat was the first president of Palestine. The PLO aka Fatah aka Palestinian Authority or PA is secular. They represent Muslims and Christians. Yasser Arafat married a Christian woman.
Hamas ruled Gaza. Not anymore though. Hamas is an offshoot of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Gaza used to be part of Egypt. Hamas is part of the Brotherhood's 'global caliphate' plans. So they are not secular and their members are exclusively Muslims.
So the Hamas hates the Fatah (PA) and vice versa.
Turkey and Qatar are strong supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Jazeera which is owned by Qatar is the mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood throughout the world, especially in the Arab World.
The PIJ is the Palestinian Islamic Jihad whose members are Shia Arabs in Gaza and the West Bank. They have teamed up with Hamas against the PA. They are funded by Shia Iran.
